Yesterdays "recovery mission" was epic! First got there, the pair that was riding in the Jeep meet us at the end of the pavement.....covered from head to toe in mud. Then they wanted to get IN my truck. Not happenin' boys....Not in your current configuration....So we slowly ride back in the woods with 'em in the bed. We get within sight of the Jeep, to where the log skidder is parked. I can see no good reason to take my truck into the swamp they're stuck in. Old stinky sour clay mud....So I fire up the skidder and make my way back to the buried Jeep. It is so sunk in the mud they couldn't even get the doors open. Watching my size 2 big friend trying to climb in the drivers side window was hilarious. He has his co-pilot hook up the tow line. I get the "go ahead" hand signal and start pulling. The skidder never changed pitch, just pulled away easily.....with a Jeep bumper in tow. Only 92,763 MORE parts to pull out of the mud. At that point, it was my suggestion we pull it out backwards, where the cable can be hooked to the receiver hitch. Better decision. The XJ came right out....with enough mud stuck to it so you couldn't even see the wheels still. It took about 45 minutes with a shovel to get it where it was driveable.

Then the moron jumps back IN the same hole.

In his credit, he did get about 3-1/2" farther.....and about 6" deeper.

So we pull it out AGAIN. This time he goes around the mud and back to the road.

No, I didn't feel the need to drive the Tacoma into the same mud hole.

I have a camera full of pictures as soon as I get my home computer back on line.

"92,763 MORE parts" ... Thanks Blue, that was an entertaining read.

These guys are your wheeling buddies? Better educate them on vehicle tow points.

The guy with the Jeep XJ won't put ANYTHING on his ride unless it's either free or broken. He knows to have a recovery hook, but so far no one has given him one. He's "building" a winch mount that I'd be afraid someone would kick it and knock the winch off.....Made out of 1/8th inch steel.....Just for looks. You don't go wheelin' with this guy....you baby sit him. (@ 56 years old)

haven't been able to drive it since new to me wheels and tires really. wife drove it, daughter drove it, and my buddy that helped me go get the tires and put them on for me drove it. they were a craigs list find. so far, riding in it they seem to ride much better than the 245's did
