    Welcome to the think tank.

Uh oh. We're going to tell you to spend the money and take out a reverse mortgage as well.

Now we have a test to verify authenticity of age...

    1. You are preparing a hot dog for lunch, choices include ketchup or mustard. Which do you use?
    2. Name at least 2 of your childhood favorite Hostess, Drakes or Tasteecake treats.
    3. Did Daffy Duck go with "shoot him now" or "shoot him later"?

Any of you youngsters heard from Mqqse (Rob) lately? He stops in to the 60+ thread now and again and I haven't seen any threads from him here or there.

Good morning, more coffee. Still burping and occasionally tasting hot peppers, cream cheese, cheese filled little smokies, and bacon. Damn life is good. At some point smoked SPAM with pineapple and eggs for brunch today.

Welcome :hattip:Well you can't take any extra retirement money with you when you pass away. So keep the 4x4 logo and get one of those stickers that says I am spending my kids inheritance.

I think it depends on what you plan on doing with your truck and where. But for the skids bolt on no matter where your at. And rock sliders for that matter. Just remember all that armor comes at the cost of extra weight and reduced gas mileage. Not that I care myself I find it well worth it.

It is really simple. 1/4 cup kosher salt dissolved in 4 cups hot water. I also added 1/4 cup brown sugar this time have also used maple syrup but hate to "waste" real maple syrup. Put 4 thick cut pork chops in a 1 gallon zip lock pour in the brine and let sit for 2 hours. Take them out and rinse them off well or they can be too salty. I put them on drying racks for an hour so they will get a better "crust" on the grill and sear them. Then slide them off to the side and finish cooking with indirect heat. They have always turned out juicy and moist that way. Yeah not a fan of over cooked pork. FDA finally lowered the safe internal temp and they say now only have to cook to 145* instead of 160* and that helps also.

    Morning all

Welcome from the northern part of the city.

I love these questions. Let us spend your retirement money :)

First, the truck is capable of offroading as it is.
With that said, you can fit 265/75 16s without a lift, if you stick with an AT tire. If you are going offroad just a few times a year, I would dump the crappy leaf springs and get a set of Dakars, with a better bilstien 5100 shock, or Old Man emus front and back. Get adjustable coils in the front to level out the ride. This will get you around a 2.5 to 3" lift.
If you want to spend it all now, you can get a set of 2.5 Kings or Fox $hocks.

A front and Mid skid are a good investment, they have holes for oil changes. And sliders are a must if you want to protect the, expensive to fix, rocker rails.

Find the Death Valley thread and see why I love going there.

For years I have always wanted a Leica Geovid. Cabelas has them on sale for a $1,000 cheaper than Amazon right now.

Well you said good, and didn't give a budget :p But seriously yes I have drooled over them for years.

For many years I used the Ranging Rangematic "coincidence" rangefinders. Have the Ranging 1000 for rifle and the 100 for archery. They still work but not even close to the laser ones made today.

Someone gave me a Bushnell golfing laser rangefinder a few years ago and it works surprising well. Generally not a fan of Bushnell optics however they have apparently come a long ways.

Cabelas has most all rangefinders on major sale right now. For the price This package may be worth looking at. In that price range anyhow.

I've come to really like Vortex optics lately. Bang for the buck I think they are hard to beat. I just checked and for a bit more money I would go with them. Waterproof and lifetime warranty. $250 more but it would be well worth it, depends on how much you have in the budget of course.

OK you've been around long enough to know that if reviews are all around the block.... move on to the next one. At the bottom your going to see that in most things IMO. I'd rather spend just a little more to get to the lower middle tier and get something that will work. And when it doesn't work have support and hopefully a lifetime guarantee like the Vortex.

    1000 yard $299 Amazon 4.8 out 5.0 with 212 reviews. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009NFUN28?ref=bit_pcomp_ask

    $299 at Cabelas also. 4.7 out of 5.0 with 510 reviews. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Vort...ncXJZswv8Sut07xnpAFDQaAhhj8P8HAQ&gclsrc=aw.ds

Telling you am really impressed with Vortex. Picked up a 6x18 44mm for my .22 air rifle. And springer air guns beat up a scope harder than any magnum rifle. If a red squirrel shows his head instant dead squirrel. Can't be more impressed with them. Did I mention they have a lifetime warranty?
