    A fun little bedtime story

I have spent a few years avoiding the takeover of AT&T for just about every form of communication. They were the only option for good TV service but I went with Direct TV and it is cheaper and just as good. They have had control of the dsl lines, so I went with a small startup that has worked out fine. AT&T has knocked on my door and actually threatened my dsl would be shitty unless I went with Uverse. That's right they said I COULD have high speed Internet but they won't let me have it unless I buy from them, same lines more money.
Well my Direct TV got bought out by AT&T, so they got me there. Verizon was swallowed up by AT&T so my landline has been with them, but I held my ground on the Internet threat.
So a couple of weeks ago my small Internet company, sent an email about a new modem that would guarantee faster service for the same cost. OK I will try it. And sure enough, it is 15 times faster...woohoo...and who showed up to install it? Yup AT&T. I give up.

I guess the Frontier takeover from Verizon is not doing well in Socal . A lot of very upset Verizon subscribers and even the local news have stories over it . The wait times for customer service is ridiculous and the fun times trying to navigate their help pages is a nightmare

I've not even received a bill as of yet and found out may not get one until June .... WTF !!! . Come Wednesday I get my Charter internet and drop my landline . At that point I will try and figure out how to cancel my acct with Frontier

Bad service from AT&T (which is actually SBC, formerly Southwestern Bell, one of the "baby bells" created by the breakup of... ...AT&T)?!? No comment - I'll just get wound up. :anonymous:

    Good Morning all.
    Pouring rain here...again.
I took the week off for hunting Turkey..but the weather didn't cooperate at all. Cold, raw, NE wind and rain all week. Jet stream got all hosed up in the North East since last weekend. Of course, sun, high 60's and 70's next week when I go back to work.
I did get out 4 times this week, layered up with rain gear and all. Did see a few birds and an "almost" last weekend that hung up at 70 yards, but "almost" don't count.
That's OK though, at least I got out,saw plenty of deer, coyotes, a bobcat, and a ton of returning songbirds so it wasn't a total loss.
Couldn't even trout fish locally, as the streams were running high and looked like coffee with all the runoff.
Vacation was leftover from last year so I had to burn it up anyways.
    All is good.

So.....Posted from home last night! New computer......Just got 'er rolling when all the sudden it became a smoke generator. Power supply went boom.....AGAIN. It goes back today after work. This week has NOT been kind to me.

Also got a notice yesterday where the surgical center where I had the first of 3 procedures done back in Jan. had decided to turn my bill over to collections and report on my credit WHEN THEY FORGOT TO INVOICE ME FOR PART OF THE BILL.....instead of contacting me OR my insurance company. I'll be on the phone with my attorney @ 9AM.

My boss made a huge mistake in his portion of the 2016 budget. Somehow it became MY problem to find a work-around. And my FAULT when I couldn't find a way to make up a $44,000 shortfall in one day. It's not HIS fault in any way shape or form.

    Up side? It's Friday.

49 now. 72 later today with slight chance of late day showers. 80 and sunny tomorrow. Rain in the forecast most days next week.

Hoping for a smooth day and a quick ride home.

It's Friday, and I have the day off. Supposed to be a nice one, mid-60's and partly (sunny or cloudy, depending on your frame of mind). Taking the day to clean up the transmission before re-installation.

Have a good one, fellow old farts.
