Who's seen the movie The Finest Hours about the Coast Guard rescue of the Pendleton? Here's the actual boat from that rescue.

GREAT MOVIE! Have to look at that from desktop tonight.

 

I actually met Bernie's daughter last summer here. She said her father never really talked about the rescue. The author of the book talked at the local movie theater and said the storm was an accurate depiction of what happened.

 

Good evening Folks, hope all is good. Picked up some oil and a new spark plug for the push mower, and will service it tomorrow along with a blade sharpening. It's eight yrs old and this is the first plug change. Thanks to fuel additive it always starts on the second pull. With the new spark plug it probably won't know how to act. Lol! We've had perfect growing conditions here, and You can literally watch the grass grow! I could actually cut twice a week. Be Safe out there Peeps!

The Pendelton was the tanker that broke in half and the crew was rescued from the back half. The Coast Guard rescue boat that went out from the Chatham station was the 36500 which can be seen in Orleans MA at Rock harbor. I don't recall how many men were on the rescue boat, but it was many more than the boat was designed to carry.

less pain they have me on anti inflamatories now twice a day. The doc took a step backwards with the pt and I have to wait a while before doing any strengthening it's just not healing very well yet. I have no strength in it so can't do much and get fussed at when I try
