They want to fill a new tank not partially and if you want to bury it you have to buy it.

I tore out an old takagi tankless last year that still worked on hard water no filter 12 years old not ever serviced. Very impressive.

Something else we found out is, some places will give you free tank rental if you use so many gallons per year and, if you don't, you have to lump sum the rental cost at the end of the performance period....lots of calculations involved and hard decisions to make. With us, we really don't want to "own" tanks of any kind (other than water) because of liability and maintenance ( for environmental and leakage concerns), but the companies make you pay for that peace of mind...decisions, decisions.

Nope, nope nope. Like snot going down
Didn't know that was an option, still cheaper than tankless, installed. We only have electric in the Oregon villa but I have to shut it off or else it would wear out in less than 10 years
Eating that food has given you boobs, Mike.

Don't know. The Ge model is the best. Some just circulate water thru coil with fan so if the attic or closet is over 100f your heater wouldn't work much.

I know you asked Kevin, but when I tried to do this it was 1/2 inch and was going to cost $1600 to install.

Would work great for my basement. Just can't bring myself to spent that money on a water heater. Saving money for a new Ruger sp101 357 mag 4.2 inch.

interesting up here it is hard to buy a tank. whom ever you rent it from is the only company that can fill that tank. if you own it anyone can fill it.

You can reduce at heater. Some models may have a required amount of flow to operate flow switch but sounds like somebody needs a new boat.
I've run into some old houses where it's all 1/2 and bushed up to 3/4" at heater. Just low flow but a dripping faucet on hot side if leaked enough would trip flow switch.

I know just enough to be dangerous, but (from what I understand) distance from source to tap has a lot to do with pipe diameter because of water friction (which is one of the reasons for noisey pipes and fixtures under performing). But just about all the fixtures and appliances you see are engineered for homes that are on public utilities.

The heaters aren't cheap. If not enough natural gas is available then you get meter changed out to high pressure meter then regulators at all appliances.
It'd cost me that much or more to do my own.

also they fill your tank every time you can't get anything less. until we had a propane shortage a few years back then that would only fill 1/2 your tank. funny how that works. did I say grrrrrrr
