Tin cups are really durable...but anything metal and hot will transfer that heat directly to your mouth and lose heat really fast.
You can go with something plastic. Not as bad, but not great by any means. If you have some small items and put those inside the cup, it makes it more packable. You can use a bowl as a cup.

Holy Shit!! And I don't see any mountain money, aka toilet paper. Take it off the roll and put it in a ziplock bag. Compass is a lot more efficient with a topo map of the area your in and include the quads around it just in case.

I have several of them and have boiled water in them over wood fires before. Don't see a problem with it except burning your lips if you don't let it cool down enough. If you don't have a water filtration system with you it is the only safe way to drink water in the woods. And if there are any beavers in the area good chance of getting Giardiasis (beaver fever). You will really need the mountain money then. Pack the ziplock bag with mountain money inside the cup.

No, when you pour the hot liquid in there, it transfers the heat with it.

Hey you hear the one about the two hunters out in the woods. One guy had to go poop. So he went and did his thing. Then he asked his friend if he had any toilet paper. His friend said no. So he said what am I gonna do. His friend said use some leaves. There aren't any . You some grass. There isnt any. Use a dollar. OK I have that. The guy came out with his hand all full of poop. His partner asked what you do?I told you to use a dollar. He said I did. 3 quarters two dimes and a nickel.
