Yep same , when I was towing especially at night Drunks especially get drawn towards your lightbar

The old bubblegum lights or standard light bar was somewhat safe but when they went to LED lightbars that all changed

When I worked as a tow truck in San Diego back in the early 90's my 10 ton tow truck got sideswiped by an RV on the 125fwy . I was pulling stuff out of my tunnel box when I got hit and I went flying over the berm and down the hill

The Customer and his wife freaked out and came running towards me to see if I was okay . Once I regained my composure I climbed back into my mangled truck and sent out a 10-33 code to the dispatcher and within minutes I had CHP and other companies tow trucks at the scene

They finally found this RV about 20 min later up near Alpine with severe damage to it

I literally hated working in the dead zone of a tow truck . if traffic was bad I would call for a CHP lane block

Laws are so foggy here. Private not suppose to run rotators etc on public street plowing.
Guys have been stopped going down the road with rotator going.
Not suppose to run flatbed strobes unless tandem towing with wheels on ground.
    Change all the time.
    Anything working needs strobes.
I'd chance it anytime working a piece of equipment.

Always hooked between batches of cars. Listened for any sound change.
Old fucker told me if you hear screaming tires etc dive under the truck.
I did do a high jump into the flat bed one night. Got my ass hit with a folding mirror.

No need to worry. If the local deputy comes down the road he's going to be laughing so hard at my neighbor cutting grass he won't see me drinking. She has 6 inch long eye lashes on her John Deer.

Az you have to move over a lane or slow down when passing anything on the side of the road with any kind of flashers or warning lights. My last trip to Ca I seen signs to the same effect so maybe they've gotten better. Around here drivers are pretty good about it.

I always hated working within inches of the Fog line or in the Gore point

Yep we've got a move over lane law if approaching a Cal Trans , CHP , any first responders including tow trucks . Not sure if this Calif law is still but tow trucks arriving on scene on fwy calls can turn all the emergency lights within a mile of the incident scene and drive legally on the shoulder

All this got blown away today. Will have to put it all back together tomorrow. It’s kind of blowing pretty hard outside
