For gmail I would use the app that comes with the phone, icon looks like a big red M. Just put in the email name and password. Forget outlook, that is for corporate email.
Bluetooth, you need to start discovery on both devices at the same time.

Crap Sue the I phones are easy to use. My daughter just switched from a samsung to Iphone and was even commenting on how much easier it is. For some one who works with computers like you do it shoud be a snap
