Deer is sleeping in the shed and the temps are right for hanging for the next few days.
    Then the processing starts.

Good morning everyone.Happy belated birthday Tim, 29 again. Cold outside, cold inside, come on furnace guy. Did the leaves yesterday, will do them again today. I may be at the end of leaves, @$&”;()/“@& white oaks. Love white oak lumber, but the trees are always the last to drop. Enjoy the day.

Yea I hear ya. I will always be spending money on work. We get 5 work shirts a year :jerkoff: no pants. No boots. No tool allowance. A few holidays. A “retirement “ match. Oh well. At least on call is light, drive a company truck Home and have freedom.

I’ve been eyeballing the New Milwaukee stackable boxes but can’t justify it yet. If I store my cordless tools in bottom I’d have to unfasten all the top ones every time.

There's a huge White Oak a couple streets away that didn't even lose a leaf yet.

I put old fridge in garage for garage beer and ice. Can only hang here long enough to skin. Started thinking last night I could hang meat in fridge and let it bleed out. Idk.

I saw one of those fancy stand up refrigerated wine cabinets at a store recently.
Already, the wheels were turning trying to figure out how to hang a critter in one.

I went and got 80lbs of ice. Started prechilling ice chest and put 2 bags in freezer when it dawned on me. I could hang straps and quarters? Dog scraps could go in chest.

Twelve day rifle deer season opens Monday in Pa. In our WMU, we can only shoot buck until the first Saturday of season, then doe. Also, bear opens up again the first Wednesday closing the first Saturday. Big day for my Son and I today. My family always meet up @ the cabin for Sunday night meal, many of us staying over. Been this way for many moons. My Dad cooks Sunday supper, then up early cooking breakfast Monday morning before we head into the woods. I always make a batch of my chili for Monday eats. I have been hunting this land for 44 years, and do not ever recall a year my Dad has not been there. This year is a first, Dad is not strong enough to be @ camp. Sucks. So the torch has been passed to me. I got the food together for Sunday and Monday, will be taking Dad's place cooking. Big shoes to fill but gotta keep this tradition going! Now off to make my chili! Have a great Sunday everybody!

    Few days?
Do you rinse it out with a "special solution" to preserve it?
We get it tagged and recorded and right to the butcher same day most times.
One guy had a tarp and wrapped his with bags of ice to cool it off.
    Just curious

My youngest son was miss diagnosed as having asthma at an early age. For years he went through all the different asthma routines and then it just cleared up for no known reason. A couple or three more years passed and no issues then he had a major attack. Turns out he's allergic to cats and the allergy symptoms are almost identical to his allergic reactions. So as stated earlier, don't just let them take the easy route to diagnosis.

During his last major attack while it was thought to be asthma, the ER doctor brought him a cup of coffee and told us to have coffee available if he has further attacks. The coffee even works now when he gets around a cat, it opens the lungs to help with breathing. Might not work in all cases but it might help y'all.

I usually bleed out meat in ice chest for almost a week. Drain and refill with ice and salt. Salt helps pull the blood out.
