:pccoffee: Good morning. Or as I like to say when I walk into work at 8 like everyone else instead of 7 good afternoon. Took off today to get the house ready and move the oldest son in on Saturday. 3 guys. And a dog. And a grumpy old man. I need to switch out 2 of the 3 for a good woman and the dog is staying.

Be careful out there Bob! Put the cleats on.

I used to preach double redundancy for both High Availability and Disaster Recovery. Most companies never did and if you figure the cost of everyone sitting around while the system is down would pay for itself in a couple of hours. Yet they seldom do it. In the Medical Field, at least where I work, double redundancy is a minimum. On the other hand some gremlin can crawl in somewhere and cause problems no matter how hard you try to prevent it. Even with strict change management. My first question usually what is your back out plan. Still have downtime procedures in place but hope never have to use them.

Let's just say an hours worth of disassembly and reinstall all the same parts because the morons didn't order the right parts. That tech was busy on a gravy job he upsold.
    So I got a 2 hour shaft.

Until I heard your stories I had no idea how brutally rough and unfair a business it is.

Well today is much better. First I didn't slip and fall on the ice. Second after some investigation found the issue that caused all the equipment that keep going offline. An Engineer in Singapore thought he was on a simulator but was live. He kept turning the equipment online and then offline. the system consists of 60 some storage banks with a high speed rail between them with 50+ vehicles on the rail. took four hours the first time and eight hours the second time.:goingcrazy: We just did a large network change over during the Holiday shut down. I was worried this was not going to be good.
