I've never heard of a bad one. The ones I have I wanted because they don't take a lot of room and heard good reviews.

One more question - how "big" of one do I really need? To start the truck or car?

I'm pretty sure my 3 is spec'd for up to V6's and small V8's. I think a better way to answer that would be to figure out the largest amount of cold cranking amps you need and get one close to or a little larger. I don't think you need the 10, but it'll certainly do it. Just don't want to go too small and not have enough.

The 400 amp model worked great on the Electra glide.

I really want to add some jump lugs or maybe an Anderson connector pig-tailed to the right side cover so I won't have to lift the seat to jump it off. I lost the rear seat bolt on my 05 because of that and not geting it tight enough and it rattled out.

The Cold Cranking Amps (CCA) should be labeled on your battery. Most that I've seen these days are around 400 to 600amps for small and mid-sized vehicles. I went with a 1000 amp starter.

I haven't come across one yet that's rated to handle a starter. Only the chargers.

I have to study up on them some more. I'd heard that gray and red have different ratings. I have some gray at work in my tool box but I think I may need the red. But color is not exclusive to size. I have a couple small gray and I have a couple larger gray. Ultimately I want to use a set to put a jumper plug on the front bumper and I need.to make a set of jump leads so I can move my lift boom from the front to the rear of the bed.

I have used Anderson connectors in the electric fork lift industry. Depending on your Amp draw as to the, size plug you get(SB175 smaller of the two or SB350.). The color was used to differentiate different battery sizes (GRAY 24VDC, RED 36VDC, BLUE 48VDC etc.). Unless modified a blue plug can only,be plugged into blue and red into a red etc. They do work well with jumper cables. I always used a cable end crimping tool to crimp the cables in to the contact tips, some preferred soldering the cable in(works good until you get excessive draw on the cable and melts the solder). I use this style crimper and it works well.
