Many of the newer ones are square, or rectangular. They have the air flow down better now. Been looking at them for years.

Torn between a dehydrator or another smoker dedicated to fish and jerky. Those are the only 2 things I would likely use it for. And it will be square. I use round pizza screens on the Weber Smokey Mountain and have to rotate them and rearrange the screens every hour or so. Works but not efficient on the WSM because I have to rotate them a lot.

    stacked trays.jpg

I prefer real smoke and keep leaning to an electric smoker, but it is basically a dehydrator with more power to burn wood to create the wood smoke. And of course has to be done outside. Up to 21° here now but still takes a lot of electricity to get there from here. The Masterbuilt Electric Smokers are popular but not well insulated. The Bradleys are better insulated but both need, or should, be stored inside.

Maybe I can live with liquid smoke after all. Not sure about doing salmon and trout on a dehydrator yet. Mike about has me ready to pull the trigger on a dehydrator and it will most likely be an Excalibur.

The Cabelas 10 tray also has high reviews but only a 1 yr. warranty. The Excalibur's are 5 year and a lot more accessories available.

One of the really nice things about electric.is not having to be as attentive. I either start it early in the morning and run it all day or start it late evening and turn it off before I go to work.

If you like cooking with tomatoes, you gotta put a tray of those in. Usually a few slices of dried will take the place of an entire fresh and the flavor is way better. Zucchini is also pretty awesome.

Can't do that. She took her test already at the driving school. Now she needs to get her picture taken and pick up her license. DMV only makes appointments if you are taking the test at the DMV which then requires your vehicle to have a safety check. By paying the school to do it, they have the DMV come to them and use the schools cars.

Thanks I have not had much luck with the gun. I believe mine is the same model as yours. I think it may be my recipe. I like the idea of freezing before hand.
