Mornin everyone! Snow flurries here in sunny Southern Maryland last night. The weather guessers are predicting 80 degrees on Saturday. I think we have the wackiest weather in the country. Y'all have a great day and play safe.

USS Coral Sea was the first to have the "SEA WHIZ" fully installed. We had them on board when I took her around the world in 83. My sister was an electronic engineer for NUWC and did the military QA for the military on site at the manufacturing facilities for sub weapon guidance systems, and somehow also CIWS.

That and keeping your head on the stock and not lifting it to take a peak to watch the bird break. Was doing that at one time quite often and a friend asked if I had a $100 bill. I actually did, kept one folded in my wallet for emergencies. Was skeptical knowing him but got it out and he told me to put it between the stock and my face. He said if it fell off the gun and hit the ground because I lifted my head it was his. It worked LOL. Well for a day or 2.

Ok question for all you cement people.
Making a pad for the gen in a week or two.
Going to use the thick patio blocks. 15 to be exact.
    I don’t want to pour a slab.
However. I do want to kinda join them together.

If I left 1/2 inch space between the blocks.
Would quickcreat or mortar mix ,worked into the cracks. And smooth it out
Would accomplish what I want. I suspect it would crack at some point but I’m not
Going to go whole hog for something I may sledge up in a few years. Not wanting perfection
Also I have used quickcreat before and it has a very rough surface which is what I want as a smooth surface would make the gen and box more susceptible to walking when it’s running..

    Just throwing this out there..

The freeze thaw cycle will move the pavers around a lot. A small 3.5” thick slab on a properly prepared base would be the best. A sand gravel base that is compacted will be the most stable, at least 6”deep.

    That’s 5” deeper than I want to go..roflmao..
Actually for something like that I could just Use 4 blocks , 1 on each end of the wheels and feet and be done with it. I just don’t want the feet to dig into the ground anymore...
    Decisions, decisions.. lol

I’m sure I’ll screw it up but I don’t care..
My neighbor that just moved in told some people on the street I’m a know it all
And my house and driveway looked like shit last summer..
And after I helped him with his snow blower and cleaned his yard..
    That’s ok..
    I have plans. Lol

I use rubber mats under our concrete picnic tables at work so they last a few years longer, but you could use 1 if you just want to keep the feet out the ground. You should.be able to find them at Tractor Supply or your local.farm/ranch supply store.

Good morning folks. The wife mentioned something about wanting to go shooting today so that may or may not happen. Still have laundry and chores to do regardless.

I would still dig down about 6" Frame the interior(interior size of the 2x4s if thats what you use to be about about 1" bigger then the total square footage of the blocks you are installing) with some pressure treated 2x4 or lawn edging and put a compacted sand base about 4" deep and then put the patio blocks on top and use a sand mix with an organic binder to hold them together. You can rent a 20" or smaller plate tamper to compact the sand and tamp down the blocks pretty cheap.

that will make a nice solid base that wont heavy so easy with frost
