I know you are right on that! I only want to go up 1" to 1 1/2". I just could not figure out why all these young guys want to change coil springs and say don't use the stock ones when they are rated a heavier spring. Ok thanks I will check in with you all in the morning. Have a good night.

    As if I needed to make a case for my boss being an asshole, here's more;

My newest hire is paying child support. The State of Kentucky sends employers a report to fill out on how much the employee's take home is. When my boss saw he's paying support, he demanded I fire him. "Damn no account bum"....he says, "No one but a loser has to pay child support. I want him out of here". I have until Monday to let him go. Not sure I'm going to.

A 17 year employee got a call today that his 55 year old sister died of a heart attack. Very unexpected....Steve was very shook up. He came to me and asked if he could go be with his family....and be off until next wed. for the funeral. I of course let him go after telling him I'd see to it that he didn't miss any hours on his check. When I told my boss Steve had left, his reply was "WHY? The funeral wasn't going to start today....He didn't need to go anywhere....He should be working late today to try to get ahead since he'll be off Monday and Tuesday". He actually expected me to call Steve and demand he come back for the rest of the day.

    JERK.....

Aftermarket lift coils are LONGER in order to gain height. Stock coils have to have the preload increased to gain lift. Spring rate is measured at a given preloaded length. As the preload is changed, RATE increases. With that, and shocks that don't offer variable adjustability on the rebound dampening, you end up with a jackhammer effect on high speed bumps. BTDT, tossed the stock TRD OR coils in favor of OME 885X's.... I'm @ 2-5/8" of lift over stock and have a very sweet ride. To get that much lift out of stock TRD OR coils, it would ride like the proverbial log wagon....

I do lift installs for extra bux to pay for my own truck mods. I've removed several sets of preloaded stock coils in favor of longer aftermarket coils. Owners are MUCH happier with the better ride afterwards.

My truck has 97,000+ miles on it. It's been raised since 42,000. Not the first single issue with drive line, vibrations, premature wear, or any other complaint.

As far as alignment specs....If you change ANYTHING on the suspension, particularly on the FRONT, you need to have the alignment looked at. Generally, most of the Tacoma's will tolerate 2" to 2-1/2" of front lift with stock control arms. Beyond that, you cannot get enough caster without aftermarket "high caster" upper control arms. The higher you go, the more caster it usually takes to get them to track well. Stock caster is around 1-1/2 degrees + caster. With a typical 3" front lift, it takes as much as 3 degrees to get it to want to stay in a straight line at highway speeds. With 2-5/8: front lift, and STOCK UCA's, I managed to get 2.9 degrees and some adjustment left.

With 1" to 2", you SHOULD get decent alignment with stock control arms. Not every truck will be the same. Not every lift will align the same....

Alter any truck and you run a risk of changing the reliability, but there is still a reasonable amount of tolerance in the suspension geometry of a Tacoma. It's all about moderation.... In many cases, those who blow up a lifted suspension would break a stock suspended truck eventually. Some people are just more abusive, Some people are easy on equipment.

I've been messing around with 4wds for 43 years now. I've busted parts that shouldn't have broke. I've also drove lifted trucks for hundreds of thousands of miles without the wear that friends see on their stock trucks.... It pays to respect limitations....

The "child support" guy will eventually get laid off, but on my terms. He's "seasonal help".

The funeral guy is the LAST person I'd fire. In fact, if I ever started my own business, he would be the FIRST person I'd go after for an employee of my own.

Plan is to just ignore my boss. Not giving him the satisfaction of him winning this argument. He has no clue how stubborn I can be.

I have a plan....It involves letting him run his mouth with an open mike of a radio in the room while a couple of board members are within earshot. I have a couple emails copied that would get him shipped off to Siberia as it is....

Give 'im enough rope.....as they say....

I would consider sending him an e-mail to document his ridiculous instructions to protect you and your employees. Something like, please confirm my understanding that you are instructing me to terminate Joe Blow because you feel he is too old to perform his responsibilities. If he has half a brain this should wake him up. If not it will rightfully put you and your employees in a better position to receive compensation in the event of employment termination from the idiot employer that put this moron in a position of responsibility.

That is crazy! I gave one of my employees 3 weeks off with pay cause his dad died. He was very close and tried everything to help save him from cancer. Very close relationship and was very affected with the loss. Definitely a loss with humanity here, we need to have some understanding how individuals are impacted depending on issues that happen in their life.

How is broken relationship an issue with a persons ability to contribute?? Obviously there is an issue there with the one making that statement.

You have a shitty boss, just saying, but there is a control issue there. If it was me, he'd be gone. I would not hesitate to fire someone for lack of humanity and understanding. Our employees are our success, not our slaves.

Now Susan you know that brings bad luck! Or so I was told when I moved to NC. Nail that little loud arse sucker....

Glad things turned out OK and that your going on vacation. Hey wait a minute I grew up in the Finger Lakes region! You make it sound like it is a refuge for hillbilly ridge runners out in the middle of nowhere. Well OK maybe just a little bit...

Have fun and a good time! PS: They finally got rid of the party phone lines (last place to have them in the US), not sure about cell towers yet though. I usually have to drive to the top of a hill to get reception and it only works on a few of the hilltops.

Good night all up early to go shoot sporting clays in the morning with a new gun that came in today. It will be my phez gun for SD this year, if I can work out all the misses out of it first.

I would just like to add that the employees are in in a union environment with everything spelled out in very clear language that only allows them 3 days off for a loss of close relative. I don't give a shit, that's not humanity, we do what's required depending on the individual needs. I stand up for my team and they stand up for our team. If corporate has an issue with me then deal with it, I don't back down to do what's right! Sorry, for this rant, but I am true to my feelings and support.
