I had a great day started

Then came home and took wifey on a adventure. 50 miles out the trans in the ford decides to go into limp mode. Pull over and restart. No gears. I'm dead. First time ever I could not get a car back home in my life.
Worse of it I think its another ecu. If it is it will be the third one in 4 years. Out of warr. I'm sure so I'm getting ready for a battle.
No matter what this van is leaving when I get it back. It's a known problem with no recall.... So fun fun fun....

Nice catch and they're tasty on a fire pit

Sucks about the ECU issues and being on the 3rd one , hopefully it gets resolved quickly By the dealer

My grandfather worked for Nash Rambler/AMC for 30 some years, my Dad would never touch a foreign car. I tried the big 3 and was so fed up with sales, service and reliability that I went first to Honda then toyota, I was amazed at the fit and finish and sales and service, that I never looked back.

This thing has been a nightmare since I've gotten it. I didn't want it at all but moving family issues made it the right move. I had one ford 30 years ago and same thing. We will see.

I had a Dodge truck back quite a while ago that ate ECU's or at least 2 of them, same thing. Out of warranty and after a couple of them plus a tranny rebuild (hey it was a Dodge) got rid of it. Dealer parts dept. wanted more than $500 for one. I ended up getting them out of a salvage yard online for around $100 instead and didn't even have to pull it myself. Being a Dodge it was easy to work on but I had to work on it way too much. Finally decided I wanted a vehicle I didn't have to work on anymore.

Even longer before that bought the Ex wife a Ford Taurus and that V6 ate head gaskets. Lots of people had problems with that engine and Ford never would admit it was a problem until a bunch of people brought a class action lawsuit against them and won. I like that Ford didn't take the bailout money from the government but still believe Ford stands for Found On Road Dead. Did I ever mention I am done with American built vehicles?!

    Afternoon everyone !!!

Walked outside my place a few min ago and saw a plume of smoke in the mtns . The brush fire is near Silverwood lake , Cleghorn truck trail . Seen quite a few Cal Fire aircraft flying over and hopefully they can knock it down quickly

Cleghorn is a favorite well used off road trail here in the San Bernardino mtns

    I hear ya!
Prior to the Taco, I had an'06 GMC crew cab. I optioned it out pretty good when I ordered it. Had an extended warranty for 72 months /80k miles. Both time and mileage expired within a week of each other. So of course, that was 3 weeks before I was going to Maine, and thats where several "problems" suddenly appeared. Rotted brake lines, rotted fuel fittings, oil cooler fitting let go. Frame had heavy rust scaling, and so on.
Got them fixed and pulled the rip cord. Went to Maine in a new Taco.

I had a Taurus, SSL engine, got to 60k and it was running great. Then it developed a leak at the transmisson. They had to pull the engine out to replace it. 3 days later I had all the transmisson fluid under the car. They towed it back and said the next gasket after the one they just replaced needed to be replaced. So I would have to pay again for the engine to be pulled. I fought it and after much yelling they only charged me labor for the gasket, it was hard for them to admit they should have replaced both gaskets. That was one of many issues I had with their service writers, a$$holes, everyone.
I get the car back, drive a few miles and the car dies, I mean dead. Popped the hood and found a wrench sitting across the battery terminals. It broke down in front of the Toyota dealership and a salesman drove me home, I bought a truck from him a week later.

To be honest I haven't watched Quincy much. I like the Mod Squad ~ Hawaii 5 o ~ Green Hornet and The Rockford Files!
