Yep I went that route for long time. Normally get up at 5:45 but the dogs often have different ideas. Or my body clock... With the Bunn I stumble out to the kitchen and pour the water in and by the time I get dressed and back out to the kitchen it is ready to go. It does stay on and heats water all day though and consumes a fair amount of electricity idling during the day, never a free lunch.

    Good morning 50s
Had my coffee & advil.
Helped stack 18 cords of green wood for a couple we stay with up in NE Vermont.
That wood shed is huge & full top to bottom!
Denis owns a mill & has been sick. He usually burns chunk wood in his outdoor furnace, but was worried this winter about his wife having to feed the stove. Such great friends!
In Winter, if I feed that fire, I'm always afraid of falling in....
Thankfully there was 6 of us & half our crew were in their early 20s!

    Hi Jim!

That is a LOT of wood! Was wondering how the woodchucking went this weekend for you :) Hope the advil works for you, which reminds me I should take some too again today after working on my retaining wall Saturday. Sounds like you have some great friends.

Hi Mike! I agree, that's a good size wood pile. It brings back memories from when I lived up in the Adirondack mountains years back. :)

Yes Denis & Nancy would give you the shirt off their backs just like many TWers! It was a lot of wood, I couldn't look at the before pile & forgot to take a picture. Nancy is going to send me one.
Afterwards we shot at water bottles off the deck to celebrate lol
Sounds like we both had productive & fun weekends.

Hi Jim welcome to the 50s section. Love the Adirondacks.

I grew up was raised in the Twin Tiers of NY\Pa. The Northeast does have some great fall colors compared to many other places I have lived. Moved to Mn. from Asheville, NC the Smokey Mountains have some great color too.

    Welcome Jim!

That's a lot of wood. Sounds like a great time with good friends.

I like what you did there. ;) I was raised in VA, spent a good part of my youth cutting, splitting, and stacking firewood. I think the Fall colors and hunting season may be the two things I miss most from back there.

LOL even before you posted that I had the same exact thought.... It took my friend (Cdr.) a long time to convince me that it was OK to join the group in SD to hunt. I kept trying to tell him there was more damn brass in that old farm house than the header of a main engine condenser. Turned out he was right and they were all OK guys. Retirement is the great equalizer, well to some extent.

Your right Jim, it is tornadoes here which surprised me when I got up here. My mother lived between Orlando and Tampa up until a few years ago when she had a stroke and I went down to move her to NC to be near my youngest sister. She drove out to escape more than one hurricane over the years. When I lived in the Tidewater area I lived down in Currituck, NC right on the Sound. When they would predict a hurricane making landfall there it wouldn't. When they said a couple hundred miles away guess where they would land?!

Yea the weather is something to keep an eye on Mike for sure. Hope your mom is doing better. I have relatives on the coast in NC and like you mentioned its code red up there for storms. It's a snotty day here with high humidity but when the front pushes thru early tomorrow it's going to dry out and be a lot less humid. There predicting a cool and wet winter here. Time will tell.

Venture down to Currituck every now and then. Usually to go to the Outer Banks when it's NOT tourist season. o_O
