The only thing we can give these dogs is deer antler. We tried those several times and they throw them up.

Just read an article about vegans and vegetarians not getting enough essential vitamins from the B group found only in meat, dairy and poultry. B12 in particular. Pretty interesting.

I used to throw deer carcasses in dog run. Used to. Wife had to take the crew to vet one day and one barfed a deer hoof
    Good times

I love this thread! I would love to have seen the Vet's face when that dog up-chucked a hoof.
Randy's Springer "Chinook" gets giddy when we start processing moose or caribou quarters...she gets to clean up the finished quarters in the yard before we gather them up for transport to the landfill. We're popular with the landfill resident eagle population as well on those runs.

Raw chicken necks are an essential part of the BARF diet. Biologically Appropriate Raw Foods for Dogs. I know several that have their dogs on the BARF program. It is a lot of work and expensive. Mushers try to feed their dogs 60% protein and 40% fat during sledding season. They pickup dead deer along the road for the protein and beg trappers for the beaver tails which are pure fat. Short of seal blubber down here.

On the food theme hit Costco for meat yesterday and a roadside stand for fresh corn and a few other things.

    Largest Capsteak and corn.jpg

Supper was damn good. Montreal chicken seasoning on the squash.

    steak corn squash plated.jpg

That little capsteak in the Costco package is going to be the turf part of my surf and turf supper tonight. In fact it is time to light fires in 1 Alpha Weber.
