Nothing like that now ... I meant the TW Code of Conduct; they haven't done a tech refresh due to one dumbass reason or another since I retired from AD over 6 yrs ago. To say I "cuss" the computer regularly is very conservative. Some of my strings of expletives would make even a Navy CPO proud. ;)

I'm a civil service load planner for 732d Air Mobility Squadron on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson. Same unit I retired out of ... walked out one end of the building and back in the other. Ran op centers on AD, I'm committed to remain a worker bee now. The boxes don't talk back, so my life is significantly less stressful. ;)

Hey I resemble that remark! ;) A lot mellower as time has gone by though... Thought you might be at the Joint Base when I saw Palmer. I always wanted to be stationed in Alaska I even volunteered for Adak every time my rotation came up but never was able to get it. Been on a lot of AFB around the world and have to admit they are head and shoulders above anything the Navy ever had. Clark in PI was one of my favorites and I always went up there when we pulled into Subic Bay. I think they moved the squadrons from Clark to where you are back in the 90's. Keeping those steel cans afloat and operational cost a lot of money, not much leftover for anything else in the Navy. At least that is what we were always told.

Your a smart man dealing with boxes that don't talk back. Early on here they tried to get me to go into management but I elected to go the Technical Specialist path. Still spend most of my day in meetings and wearing a suit, but it was the right decision for me. I don't miss the babysitting part at all. My thinking is that you and I (and others) already put our time in doing it.

    :D
    :amen: to that Brother.

They've asked me to apply for mgmt jobs in the squadron a few times ... thought about it a couple times ... but my wife and I agreed the extra money isn't worth the stress at this point in our lives. All said, add my civil service check to my retirement and VA checks, I take home a bit more than I did when I retired from AD with about 10% of the worries/stress. No need to muck things up. ;)

Take care Mike, I gotta go run an errand with our youngest son, then get a nap in before work tonight.

Actually put a sweatshirt on this morning. A frigid 68 degrees out. Already warmed up since 5 am.

Frigid huh? 8°F with a windchill of -1°F, looks like Winter is moving in up here to stay a while this year. :)

Man I do not think I could take it anymore. I'm from mass, I've been in Florida since 85. That's too damn cold. I look forward to a few good hard frost's a year and I'm good.

Alaska looks like an amazing place though. Been to Anchorage airport in the way to Japan and that was sept. Cold enough. The size of that polar bear in the glass case was insane.

We just got back from visiting our kids/grandkids in Phoenix Halloween weekend; my first visit since they moved down there last January. Have serious thoughts of buying a small place down there to "snowbird" when I fully retire. Winter in AZ and come back to AK to fish and hunt in the Summer. :notsure:

AZ is very Florida like without the humid days. I wouldn't mind living near the desert myself. I have 27 years in the local parks Dept. And I'm planning on moving to NC in the smokies I hope. Kind of a happy medium. Gets cold but not the snow build up. I miss the elevation and terrain.

I love the Smokies! I grew up outside Richmond, VA; my Dad's people are from Sugar Grove, VA, right over the mountain from Marion. I still miss the Fall colors from back there.

Hottest we saw was 83°F the week we were there. I think I could survive there from mid-October thru about mid-April. I told them when they moved they wouldn't see me down there in Summer. On top of too hot, after 7 yrs in England before the last 14 here, I just don't react well to air conditioning any more; always seems to make me sick if I sleep in it. o_O

Yep, dry or not, anything triple digit is just too damn hot. My tours in the sandbox I was glad I caught the nightshifts.
