Yea. I dont think I'll make it back this season to make the summit. Its more the terrain than the air (usually is the air!) Extremely steep/slide prone trail...

I do take a little Rx/muscle relaxer that Ive hoarded from other 'injuries' just before bed. With age comes (tiny bits) of wisdom, Ive been wearing one of those back brace things while working this shit.

Ive summited both Banner peak 12kft and Mt Ritter 13kft numerous times

Still want to climb Mt Whitney 14k ft elev

 

Friend of mine has tried to Summit Mt Whitney 4x's but has to turn around midway up the 99 switchbacks

 

Looks like headed for Asheville then turning up our way

So there has been a little vegetable thief in our backyard recently. I keep finding half-eaten tomatoes all around in the front and back and side of the house. I've seen raccoons and possums, and of course squirrels and cats, but fortunately no rats. I've been more of the mind of, "Live and let live," for the last few years, but this time he has gone too far.



We found this sitting on top of the alley gate top rail, about 7' up. He is just mocking us now.

I have the motivation and the stamina. I didn't have good tail conditions. Steeper trail than in the vid. and the surface was volcanic ash-very slick- and shards of sandstone that were all moving under foot.

All of this!! I was hiking with The Husband. He knew his legs were tired and stopped a little more than a 1/4 mile from the summit. I tried to go on. Got about 1/2 the remaining distance and knew I had to come back down the sliding crap. (after pushing up and knowing Id be even more tired at that point) I knew I had to stop then and there.
