Never had an Uber issue. Major airports. Late night residences. Random street intersections. Newest version of the app will have a color square to shine to flag the driver who is looking for you.

New drama topic... keeping up with the family dysfunction... anyone had to just cut out a relative or two? Just have no more contact?
After what I saw today (in an email) I am just about done... I’ve had a really great life without being involved with them for a long while now. I’d be okay without them from here forward too.

    It's hard, but necessary sometimes.

I ended up moving pretty far away from my dysfunctional relatives to make my way in the world, they won't really have anything to do with me any more. It's never easy, but sometimes it's better to just cut your losses. I beat my head up against that emotional brick wall for years, after a while I just had to give up on it.

Thank you for that. It does help know I’m not the only person to have done this...

My sis-a nutjob in her own right-and I had recently reconnected, though just in bits and pieces thru texting. I had ‘been playing nice’ and kept her informed on what I was dealing with at our moms home.

In another attempt at playing nice, I was trying to backup a pathetically old phone to save contacts and photos. Email tab was open on the computer...

Mom-not fully right in her head-vented and emailed and shared with sis alllll that had gone on between her and I.
Sis had some shit to say about me. Mom had shit to say about me. This was all between them in 3-4 emails.

Well... sad to say, but I rarely have drama, I never post it to social media and here I have dropped it all on TW. (And shared it with Husband via phone calls. His support and love is never-failing❤️)

    Sorry!

Things can get better sometimes, though!

My Dad recently got through a pretty rough bout with cancer, and it changed him a bit. A bit for the better, I'd like to think.

As my wife has been battling her cancer, he's called me every week to see how things are going. It's the first time we've talked regularly for years, and it's been nice.

Wow. That sounds like it's going to be a real challenge; I feel for ya. Fortunately for me, my parents are just about the opposite - they're thinking ahead. There has been an effort at their house to clean out the attic and pre-bequeath lots of stuff they don't use anymore. And when their kids or nieces/nephews don't want it, it goes right to the trash / recycler / Goodwill.

Mom just rediscovered my old beer can collection from the '70s. :yay: 200+ unique and mostly out-of-production labels. Dunno why, but that brings me great joy. I'm looking forward to going through them.

Although I haven't heard many stories better than the experience my mother and her cousins had while cleaning out her aunt's house about 20 years ago. The more they cleaned, the more money they found, including a room with a layer of cash lining the floor under the carpet. Once the money started adding up, they put some effort into finding it all, but I'm guessing the new house owners will eventually find something my mom missed. Those kids of the Depression era grew up with a well-ingrained distrust of the banks and often kept substantial sums elsewhere. In this case, it was somewhere in the neighborhood of - hold on to your hats - NINETY thousand dollars. So who knows, there might be some hidden treasures waiting for you to find.

    1. If you have a old Tacoma Berr can (I saw one that looked like an oil can?) I could be interested in that!

    2. Both my mom and MIL have said “well, you can just go thru the stuff when I’m gone”. Me: But I’ve told you already, I don’t want it, get rid of it!

    3. It’s entirely possible sine cash is in here. It will be in coat pockets or old purses... but I know she banks... so does MIL. It just means that even tho we want to toss stuff, every last thing will have to be gone through... :annoyed:

Seeing (reading) the backstabbing... the more I stew on it, im over it.

This is true! I did get to experthis with my dad (also a strained relationship). He’s since passed, but once he got his cancer diagnosis, he changed. Made amends.

It gets worse. Toddlers on up run and jump in your lap knees first. And it's like you never expect it. It's like they are aiming with the element of surprise.

    Home Sweet Home :)

Feels good to back home. Put over 860 miles on the Rav4 since Friday.

After we left Mary's parents house today I told her I didn't think that they would be living there one year from now. I'm not looking forward to that move. When we helped them move 6 years I couldn't believe how much stuff they saved over the years. Nothing was thrown out. The thing that makes it worse is that Mary and her 3 brothers are on the title for the house. Her brother Matt thinks that he and his wife's are going to live there. That's fine than he can keep the mess/stuff. But,,, he think that he shouldn't have to buy out the other 3. If that's what he wants then fine, take Mary off the title, so we have no responsibility for anything. Don't care about the money.
I went through to much crap after my mom passed away back in March. I haven't seen any of my brothers since the end of march. I call, text, stop over. But their always busy/not home. Last month my brother and his wife (from Kansas )were here in WI for over a week and I didn't know it.:notsure:
