    Yea
But I haven’t seen a gravel filter in system. I’m wondering if it’s hard water/chemical fallout

At first was going to say no. Then remembered back in the late 70's they put in an experimental deionization bed on one of the plants for the feed water. That looks a lot like the crap that would keep leaking into the boiler after awhile, sometimes the pellets would make it in too but they were always consistently round. We finally got rid of the damn thing thank goodness.

That would be my guess too. Because we did surface blows nightly when treating with TSP\DSP and bottom blows often didn't often see anything until we tore them apart usually for punching tubes.

We would draw oil samples nightly from all equipment and let them sit to see if any water separated out. If it did then you had to determine if it was from the feed\condensate side, or saltwater side. There is one way for sure to determine it. But they both taste oily LOL.

    Why do I bother.

Kid pushes in a no start.
    Checked codes.
    Map , coolant correlation .
    Scan check.
Stone cold engine reading 165 degrees.
    That’s your problem.
Doesn’t like my answer I guess.
    Runs to the Forman.
    He comes down.
    Fuel check
    Pressure check
    Check plugs
    Fiddle this fiddle that.
    Won’t start.. no shit.
I Tell him again it thinks it’s warm.
    It’s lean...
Forman says it should still start. :annoyed:

    Now I’m pissed.
I grab a can of ether..

    Pull the air filter cover.
I yell crank it and don’t touch anything.
Crank and ether and it starts and runs real slow.
So by short burst it runs. Not like a no start.
So after about 30 seconds I stop.
    Engine keeps running
I walk away and throw the can back in my tool box and start working on my car with 3 people with blank expressions on their faces looking at me.

I really hate being asked for help and not doing what I say..
    It just gets more frustrating.......
    Ok rant over.

We had a sand type media filter in our CA home. The well had a lot of sediment. Tank was almost as tall as me and 3/4 filled with the media.
