    Morning all.
Hope your on the mend Susan.
Mice are on the move. They are starting to hitch rides in vehicles. Did 3 the past week. Luckily they just built the nests and didn't die.
Found 2 in my own traps in my garage this weekend. That time of year..

    Morning Mike.

Mice, yay ... always a fun time.

If you don't mind saying, what's your opinion on turning front rotors when replacing the pads vs just replacing both pads and rotors?

My gut is telling me replace them ... just thought I'd ask Mike what he thinks based on his experience.

Good morning all everyone. X3 on hope you feel better today Susan. Yeah that time of year here too, once they cut the fields and temps drop the mice come running for my place, and a few try to make themselves at home in the engine compartment. This year I have only caught one in the house fingers crossed that is it.

Mike can answer better than I can but my Grandfather owned a garage and taught me you could turn rotors twice then replace them. That was a long time ago and they are thinner now, with my recent vehicles I can only do it once and some of them have warped even with that. Wondering what Mike's experience is too.

None of this metal is like it once was; heck I put new pads AND ROTORS on an Escape a few years ago, and still ended up having to get the new rotors turned inside the first 5000 miles. Those damn Escapes ate up front brakes every 30K ... I think it was because of the AWD set-up :notsure:

    Hi Rob.
Myself, I try not to turn rotors. I do it if the cust wants to. Anytime you replace pads you really need to get the glaze off the rotors. So by the time you true them up you take off more than you thought. It's all about quality repair. Solid rotors I hate turning. Yes we have about a 70/30 on turning. If it's a truck worked hard I really try to replace. You need the extra material to dissipate heat and strength. Rotors are cheap enough these days. IMO. I never turn a rotor a second time..... Have a good day. Off to the grind..

LOL... Glad your feeling better Susan!

Decided a couple of hours ago I am going to head 300 miles North on Sunday for a week with the pup and get him on some more ruff grouse before the snow gets too deep. My son's cancer being in remission is a huge relief and I need a break it's been rough since January. Found out today that one of the chemo complications, a damaged heart valve that needed surgery, is healing on its own and he doesn't even have to go back for tests until another year for that. Still several other complications to solve and heal yet but I am considering it a win. Time for me to switch the focus back to life in general finally. I think the pup knows, he is all over me. He reads me like a book. The older Toller is too old to go and also reads me like a book and has been glaring at me the last couple of hours....

    Good Morning.
I arrowed a large buck on Saturday and finished processing it last night. Everything cut up or ground and vacuum sealed and in the deep freeze.
Grinding and mixing is a PIA, but it's all part of the deal. One batch of ground I add slab bacon into the mix.Bacon burgers with built in bacon..yum.

Couldn't wait to get the hide off the other day. Loaded with ticks and other blood sucking parasites.
Those things skeeve me out and I just plain hate the little bastids.

    Congrats!

We switched from beef suet to bacon bits and pieces for our ground last year; such an amazing difference. And it smells wonderful cooking as well. No plans to go back to beef suet, it'll be all bacon from now on.

Just ate the leftovers from my days off ... French toast sticks with sausage and what was left of the green peppers/onions/mushrooms/bacon/potatoes/scrambled eggs skillet thing I whipped up this morning. :hungry:

Let me know when you're coming up ... I'll have some mooseburgers on the grill when you get here. ;)

Good morning everyone. Congrats bucktales! Yeah over the years the hides of everything seem to hold a lot more ticks and fleas than they used to. If I shoot a rabbit or snowshoe hare I throw it in the crotch of a tree and pick it up on the way back out after the little basatages have left the carcass as it cools down.

Have always added pork sausage, didn't even know there were any other options LOL. Used to live for deer season but it got to the point where I cut the backstrap out and ground the rest. Been a few years since I have been and then it us usually just to mentor someone. Friend and I were texting last night and he said he hunts deer for meat and birds for fun. I replied back and told him I go to the meat counter at the grocery store and buy Prime cuts for meat and hunt birds for fun now. His come back was to call me a bum
