That's alot of rain for your area !!!


Alot of people I've talked to up here say this is the coldest , windiest and wettest Winter up here in many years !!!!!

Wonder how bad Monsoon season will be ???

 

I'm not even going to try to out guess it. We have a couple low water crossings being done (I think) this summer that I recommended they plan to do temporary diversions so the contractors don't have their rebar and subgrade washed out mid job. Not sure if the engineers are including it in their calculations or not. We'll see.

 

flash floods can really do alot of damage especially in areas known to flood

With all the snow up in Big Bear especially at Bear Mtn ski resort currently at 128" plus it's going to be interesting , Big Bear lake feeds Deep creek which is the headwaters of the Mojave river


The Mojave river runs right thru Hesperia and the snow melt and upcoming monsoon season there's definitely going to be alot of flooding

 

I've cleaned up some of the main washes that roads cross and it's really helped just getting them wide and flat and got the brush out so the water slows down. Getting the brush out keeps the water going straight and not scour (swirl and cut). Only have about 50 more to go. I have way more work than I have years to go before retirement, but it'll be better than when I found it and make the next person's job a lot easier. It's hard to see the results of my work in those areas when the washes don't run for months. Kinda like watching paint dry.

Made Costco run yesterday so have meat to grill. But need to shovel snow off deck first. Think I will wait until it warms up to the high of -4.

Going to hibernate go back to bed, screw it. Below zero every day this week until Thursday. Then it warms up and snows. Again.

 

I see nothing to like here.

Morning all. Sons of the American Legion monthly breakfast fundraiser this morning. Homemade sausage, puddin, scrapple (not for me) and other breakfast food. Awesome group of guys I am associated with. SAL gives almost all of income back to our local community in the form of donations. We honor our Vets in many ways. Small town America. Happy Sunday!
