    I am not Catholic but I find this a terrible tragedy knowing all the history that was lost I don't care if it was an 800 year old pew it is history we can never get back. They may be able to take pictures and reproduce things but it will never be the same. What a loss

    Supposedly there was or is a piece of the cross and a nail stored in there somewhere. They said there were priceless artifacts in the spire itself which is gone. I don't know how much they were able to save but I am sure the world lost a lot of history today.

    There's a place in the Yuha Desert at the foot of the mountains that's part of El Centro BLM's AO called Crucifixion Thorn. Supposedly one of the few places it grows naturally.
