If you’re in Tacoma, look up a pet store called Waggs. Friends of ours and they have several of our pups

Have a good trip, hope all goes well for you Rick!

When I was in Bremerton used to go down to Ft. Lewis to get first dips on GSA items mainly tools, at the time it was the Regional distribution center. A few sleeping bags and other items were usually in the boxes. I never complained :)

And Hood Canal is even better yet  Crossed the Narrows at Tacoma quite a bit but always thought of the movie they used to show in physics class of the Bridge collapsing from a 40 mph wind.

The Hood Canal Bridge sunk while I was in Bremerton. Never bothered me it helped slow down all the people from Seattle invading the Olympics. That is where I bought my first Toyota my Iron Pig FJ-55

Would be a lot further ahead today if I would had stayed with Toyota over the years.

The Government gave me a K car on recruiting duty, until I killed it and not from neglect or crashing it. Was first front wheel drive car that I ever drove, it had more than its share of limitations. They eventually went back to giving us 4x4 vehicles in the mountains.

My 5 day week starts at 2PM.
O-6s get nice Suburbans or Tahoes here (occasional Expedition). O-5s and below get 4WD Trucks, or the occasional goofy Dodge Journey, which they never want to drive (the Journey) and it only gets used by TDY visitors.
    Yep

The Tundra also has limitations in towing. There is no free lunch not a fan of cabover truck campers they add too much weight to the vehicle, not good on soft terrain when surrounded by muskegs and bogs. And limit your road access from overhanging trees on many roads. For someone that goes to Parks and open country not a problem. But if I am going cabover I am going cabover.

Although they even make one for the Polaris Ranger, must be a torture chamber

When I start adding up a new tow vehicle and hauler\camper I am hard pressed to come in at under $100K. More like $150K+. For me in the Northwoods and the Sunset Country of NW Ontario keep coming back to I can rent a lot of nights at cabins for that much money. Somewhere, not easy to find when very few people live there. But then I use it as a base camp and use the Ranger Northstar to get where I want to go

Still like the idea of a conversion van for shorter stays though they aren't cheap either. And have their limitations too.

Some make a better tow vehicle than a pickup. But a toy hauler\camper trailer would have to be 8.5' wide and some of the "main" roads I travel aren't much wider than that. Let alone the 2 tracks I travel that are classified as roads. And that is just to get back to the head of trails.

Did I mention there is no free lunch?

Yeah I agree, think it is one of those things for people that have more money that brains?!

I see a lot of aluminum toppers on them at shoots around here

They start at more than a grand and go up from there. The trimmed trees on the trails would open them up like a tin can, I'll stick with my homemade 1/2" baltic plywood box laminated with exterior glue thank you very much! In fact need to work on repainting it and fixing it up a bit more before hunting season starts. The dog likes it and that is important.

Nope. Want a hard sided camper, not a pop up. Lots of areas I cant go now due to bear country restrictions.
Ideally I'd take an EarthRoamer but until I win the lottery that ain't happening.
