No lie. I was the lowest ranking schmuck on my crew, so it was my job to start the car and turn the A/C on 15 minutes before we left Eskan for the RSAF building. That POS Mitsubishi was 165 degrees on the inside.

    Insane heat.

That's one of my "go to" thoughts. " At least it's not Saudi or Iraq".

The first job I interviewed for (and got) after I retired from the USAF was doing traveling training work for a telecom. The last question the panel asked me was “can you travel?

“That depends on four questions. If the answer is ‘no’ to all four, I’m your boy.”

    Uh, what questions?

    1. Is it 140 degrees outside?
    2. Do I have to wear armor?
    3. Do I have to carry a weapon?
    4. Is anyone shooting at me?

    “...”

“Uh...well, I’m going to start in Rochester New York, so I might still want the armor...”

My boss later told me that they hired me on the spot because of that answer. No one had ever laid that kind of line on them. I flew everywhere for about 18 months and made a stupid amount of money, and it was awesome because I didn’t have to hump 4 A bags and a weapon through any of the airports.

    Good times.

My only visit to PHX in July, when I stepped outside of the arpt, my exact words were, "Feels like Dhahran, only smells better."

Just quote my post here, and type your responses below.

    Now to the test:

    1. What condiments do you prefer for your hot dogs? Think carefully!
    2. What snack cakes Little Debbie’s, Hostess or Drake?!
    3. What is your preferred hardware for removing the younglings from the lawn?
    4. Dog or Cat? This is not a question about what is on the dinner menu!
    5. Goat Porn?
    6. Coffee or Tea? Those are your only choices!
    7. Bacon
    8. Toilet paper rolls, over or under?
    9. Daylight Savings good or bad?
    10. How do you like your steak cooked?

I think it's a desert thing. There are places here that makes you think there should be a fly swarm near-by. Of course they are inhibited by unsavory individuals so it shouldn't be a suprise.
