It's amazing how the visitor's manners and demeanor change with just the change of a shirt. My usual attire is brown wranglers, steel toe logging boots and hickory shirt and either straw or felt cowboy hat or ball cap. On occasion I have to wear the tan button down with metal name tag and official patches with everything else being the same. People are more approachable when I'm in my hickory shirt. When I pull up on a camp with the tan shirt they act like they've either done something wrong or (mostly women) get super friendly and googlie-eyed. I much prefer the hickory shirts.

Ablative =bottom paint where shit doesn't grow on bottom.
Bottom paint was the suck job of all suck jobs.
Copper/Lead was the best as it was the most toxic...and was banned.

The last several years i've used Latex bottom paint.
    Much more user friendly.
2 coats on the water line.:D

Psst... She's upside down sitting on saw horses... The paint is about 50% copper oxide (bottom paint). Yes, it does suck.

So if it’s upside down, the bottom is now the top. He is using bottom paint. Shouldn’t he be using top paint now ?

I actually thought about a career with the park service once upon a time...back then my allergies were so bad I didn't think I could ever do it so I settled for an office job.
Now, allergy shots have helped a ton to keep my allergies in check.
But....people have gotten so stupid. I don't think I have the patience it takes to tell people 7532689 times a day not to pet the elk and not to pick up the baby bison and not to swim in the geysers. Pretty sure I'd start tasering people halfway through my first day on duty....

I’m sorry you had to settle.

You might still be able to ... taser is non-lethal, I, on the other hand, would wind up in jail before the first set of shifts was up.

I actually wanted to be a Forest Ranger. I had allergy problems too when I was young. I was basically allergic to being alive. All better now cause of the shots I took for 2 years back in my youth. I would still like to be a Forest Ranger, because for the most part, I like dealing with tree's and animals better than I do people. Present company in this thread excluded from that comment of course.

hey, at least I'm honest :notsure:
I was talking with a Ranger one day in Yelly... I was watching a bull elk from a safe distance, some people walked in between me and him. I told them to get back, they were too close. They just ignored me. Next thing I know I hear a voice behind me say, "you better listen to what the lady (me) says, she's right and you guys are too close." I turned around and it was a park ranger. He had heard me warning the folks. We talked for a few minutes and I made a comment about how clueless people were and that I thought the park rangers should be allowed to carry cattle prods. He said "Oh, we'd never punish the animals for people's behavior like that!" I said, "who said anything about using the prod on the animals?" He hesitated for a second and then started laughing. Said, "yeah, I don't think they'd let us do that either." :D

Don't get me wrong; I like what I do, I'm good at it and I make descent money (better than I would as a Ranger) but I do wonder if I would have chosen differently years ago.

And yes, the stupidity I see seems to grow exponentially every year.

see about comment about my convo with the ranger

I'm on my 5th and final year of shots. Can't believe what a difference its made. I'm not "cured" by any means but everything is much more manageable now. And it only took 5 years and $10k....

My granddaddy was a Sheriff here back in the 50's and then a Murder Detective until he retired. He used to tell us stories about the criminals he would catch that were being charged with murder. How they would "accidentally" hit their heads on the patrol cars when being put in the car. Or "accidentally" have their fingers broke when the were shutting the doors on the patrol cars.
