    A number of years ago, one of my coworkers was on his way to work early in the morning when an owl came swooping out of the trees and slammed into his windshield, hard. Coworker turned around, went back, and found the owl lying dead on the side of the road. He picked up the carcass and tossed it in the back of his pickup thinking he would take it to a taxidermist and have it stuffed.

    Several of us were standing around in the parking lot when he pulled in. He jumped out of his truck, said "Hey guys look at this", and reached in to grab the owl to show it to us. Turned out the owl wasn't dead, just stunned, and when my coworker reached for him the owl rose up out of the bed of the truck and let out a piercing shriek right in coworkers face.

    Coworker let out a shriek of his own, tripped over his own feet trying to get away and landed on his ass. The owl just jumped up on the tailgate then spread it's wings and flew off into the trees. The rest of us, when we got over the momentary shock, laughed our asses off. It's a wonder coworker didn't have to go home to change his shorts.
