We did Arches as a very last minute thing and I’m so happy we decided to do it. When you were in Zion did you hike up Angels Landing?

 There are no words for this.

As long as the ears are warm. At least that’s what I say.

    Drive safe. :burnrubber:

No, I didn't have the time to do Angels Landing. I couldn't find a parking place and circled the lot at the VC for about 90 minutes then gave up and went back over to the east side to camp. Went back into the park about an hour before sunset and explored a little but of course, couldn't get up the canyon. Had about 2 or 3 hours to explore the next day before heading for home. Zion wasn't exactly a great park. Way too crowded. I'm used to Yellowstone crowds but Zion was a whole other level of crazy.

Yeah, it definitely gets crowded...and that’s one thing we try to avoid. Big crowds. :goingcrazy: We were able to go right before the major crowds hit. I think maybe it was May?? The hike/climb up to the top was fun....Little bit of rock climbing. Not to mention the views from the top of Angels Landing were quite spectacular. That’s really all I remember about Zion. I agree with you....Bryce with the colors and formations is incredible. It’s amazing what nature creates.
Oh and my wife says thanks. She’s enjoying the Tourons of Yellowstone.
    Some people.

I'm not big on crowds either but anymore if you want to see the parks you don't really have a choice.
Bryce and Arches were my favorites. Canyonlands and Capitol Reef were cool too but they're so huge I didn't really give myself enough time to explore so I need to go back.
I also hit up some of the State Parks - Goblin Valley and Kodachrome - which were well worth the time. Smaller crowds and good camping. Kodachrome may have been the highlight of the trip, loved it back there.
Zion was my least favorite. I think I spent more time driving around the parking lot than I did hiking.

If you REALLY don't like crowds go to Roosevelt Park in North Dakota. Memorial Day weekend last year and the campground was nearly deserted, maybe 20 out of 60 sites taken. And I think I only saw less than 50 other vehicles the whole time I was there.

I'm on the tourons account - as a contributor, not as a touron. I send the guy lots of pics to repost. @publiclandshateyou is another account to check out.

    evening all

One year the deadline to remove studded tires was a Saturday night.... dad got stopped on the way home from an outing about 2 am. He had already planned to take them off Sunday, even though he knew the deadline. Didn't think he would get stopped 2 hours after the deadline.

So sorry Bill. Won't be easy for anyone.
