In the meantime here's my moron report...

major customer of ours runs several projects. probably 50-60% of our annual business...
certain projects are just cursed and always go wrong.
customer requests we make an item, needs it ASAP. provides all of the dimensions to me and I draw it up and get it in production.
week later customer emails me and says its wrong, doesn't fit. gives me new dimensions.
we make it, again, a rush.
TWO weeks later another email. the 2nd one doesn't work. not sure why the rush item sat on site for two weeks before anyone noticed...
back to the original dimensions with a few small tweaks that were not mentioned before.
third times the charm. it fits!
boss asks why we've made the same piece three times. so i explain.
my boss goes to the contractor's boss. contractor's boss chews the contractor's ass. contractor freaks out and says its all MY fault in order to save his ass. he claims he has documentation to prove its my fault and not his.
i have documentation that its not my fault as well.
i spend 2 hours of my day reconstructing the back and forth, thankfully i keep all of my emails and always follow up phone calls with emails.
as I'm going through a dozen emails I realize that the contractor is confused and thinks that the 1st attempt at making the piece is actually the 2nd and visa versa. that plus the details that they didn't bring to my attention, in the beginning, contributed to the remakes.
we recheck a few other things, stuff that i don't have access to, so it proves that i didn't go back and change things to cover my ass. everything matches - everything i did, and everything the shop did.
my boss and my boss's boss believe me and are on my side.
contractor calls me and as we talk he confirms my suspicion that hes got version 1 and version 2 mixed up. he then emails me and CC's his boss, again making it seem like its my fault.
it took a lot of restraint but i did not reply. i could have nailed his ass to the wall but i choose to be the bigger person and kept silent. my boss knows its not on me and that's all i care about right now. if the contractor wants to persist, fine. i can prove i'm not at fault if i need to.

we shall see what transpires on Monday...

Yea well had a lab on 2nd floor flood yesterday, about 3ish, 430 is quitting time.
Emergency shower stall clogged and flooded lab and ran thru ceiling of 1st FL lab. Building isn’t as old as me but close. Emergency shower looked like never been used before only it’s being used as storage.
I ran over with cleaning crew and returned with sewer machine.
A professor I’ve never seen or introduced to asked “is it the drain or a water line? Because it’s going thru the ceiling below”
I asked” was there an emergency to have to use the shower? And it’ll continue until this lab is shopvacced and drain cleared.”
    He just turned and split

    Hey Kevin. :hattip:

Our team has been trying to deal with a boss that doesn't communicate. He's a bit busy. He has the power to fire though. We'll get it all done.

Without going into too much detail, he is a an architect, not a software architect, that is trying to run an IT department. o_O
