    Welcome to Friday, not superstitious don't care if it is the 13th. Well maybe, will have my head on a swivel.

    Guess I need to make it to the VA finally myself, although the Navy managed to loose my baseline audiogram. 20 years of working around steam turbines and boilers are finally catching up to me. And I wore double hearing protection, as I am sure you did too when required Bob.

    Got some electronic ear plugs with variable amplification and impulse noise blocking for shooting this year and when I first started to play with them discovered that I have a lot of loss in my left ear. And of course frequency range loss has been in both for awhile now.

    Won a new old stock Benelli Cordoba on Gunbroker last night so have another toy to have an excuse to wear those electronic ear plugs. Merry Christmas to me :cool:

    My shop ( Armory) at El Toro was located couple hundred yards from a engine run up area and hearing fighter jets plus C5 Galaxy's and C 141 Star Lifters test their engines was very loud

    The live fire exercises were at Camp Pendleton and at 29Palms

    but your "work" is cool and fun. don't think the rest of us can say that.

    I once got a two week unpaid vacation for xmas. Boss wanted to remodel the office and decided to close down for two weeks - told us about 2 or 3 days beforehand. Using up our PTO was an option but I didn't want to waste it on a forced vacation when I wouldn't be able to go anywhere. He didn't seem to understand why we were so unhappy to not be getting a pay check at the end of the year...he already paid us jack and most folks were pretty much living pay check to pay check, no savings. Lots of unhappy people that year - and that extended to everyone's families as they couldn't afford much for gifts for the kids.

    70 miles of alone time to contemplate life, sounds good to me

    always poop on the clock. pro tip.

    Yea, that's my volunteer work, my day job is for an elected official, local county government.. I love him to death, but he is a cheap ass West Virginia Hillbilly that thinks everyone should drive around in Florida Summer days in a 1987 Nissan pickup, Black, AC is broke, windows won't roll down and you have to climb in and out the passenger's door cause drivers side won't even open... :smack::smack:

    He is a hoot though...
