Absolutely, but first take the entrance test on page 1 and post your answers. Based on the answers, the thread elders will place you in the appropriate class group (for me, it was remedial)... This is the best thread on TW.

Just watched a video of a valve body replacement in a 2012 outback. Fluid as black as coal. Another sealed transmission with “lifetime “ fluid. Very cool lots different than my youth, now a computer tells ya what to do in the car.

    Yea
Hopefully I won’t need to do valvebody if I change fluid at 30k mile intervals

I brought in VMware here back when I had to upgrade more than 40 print servers from NT 4 back in the day. Kicking and screaming the lead said no to VMware, I said hold my beer and watch this. Reminded him that a tech spec is equal to a lead. Before P2V existed and I used Imaging for Windows freeware and installed the VMWare drivers then took a bootable DVD image of the servers. Ran System Internals SID changer, etc. when they came up and used print migration tool to move 14,000+ print queues.

Only took a week in my spare time then did the complete Citrix farm I managed of more than 200 servers in a couple of weeks. The lead that told me no was the keynote speaker at VMWorld in Vegas the next year. The bastard LOL. We are more than 98% virtualized now not counting mid range hosts.

Back then we had around 1,000 physical servers per sysadmin. Had enough of 110 hour weeks and ended up moving out of the sysadmin world when an opening presented itself. Now they have dozens of people on 3 shifts 7 days a week. I miss the sysadmin world at times, then again I don't. Still get dragged into it from time to time.

The vendor app fought with last night is the last one on the last mainframe that was just ported to a Linux\Windows mixed environment. Shutting down that last mainframe Jan. 1 Must have more than 10K Nix and Windows servers now, not even sure anymore.
