its a way for getting new people to try to be safe in the plant. just started last year.they list things you will or shouldnt do to be safe around the equipment. you check off the items and sign it.most accidents here are new people but some are senior people who get too comfortable with what they do.talking about accidents this mite interest you. the big truck at my sons work was in a shop for oil change and stuff. something happened to the hydralics on the lift and it dropped the truck.did some major damage to their truck. thank God nobody was under it working

Basically reminders,,,,,, I can see that.
We had a guy at the track pulling a trans out without floor jacks. Wasn’t pretty. It slipped off but caught the ft suspension so didn’t kill him but put a hell of a gash in his head. The sad thing is people saw what was going on and didn’t say anything.

I have had lift failures and I tell you a change of underwear is in order...

 

I didnt know if shops used some kind of jacks for saftey or not on a lift.now they are aruguing over who will pay for the damage and they still charged for the oil change

 

If we are pulling trans, rear ends, etc that can upset the cg then we use one arm bandits to secure the
Vehicle.
Lifts have locking bars in event of hyd failure they will only fall down to the next bar. Usually about 8 inches but 4000 pounds free falling that distance make a hell of a racket and shakes the shop.

At the first shop I worked at after school, had a hydraulic single center post. It was the owner’s bay. He jacked the car up a bit (stupid move) doing suspension work on the back of a 70’s wagon. Car came off the lift wedged against the building still 6’ in the air. Fun times getting that thing down!

 

Stories of shop accidents will wake you up in a hurry.

Doesnt take much to have a vehicle fall off a lift !!!!

For the 10 short years working as a Diesel mechanic I've seen and or heard of nasty accidents that could have been prevented

 

Hopefully Superbowl won't be as boring as this game.
