Not the first time I've helped someone - I have lied to a couple of people before just because I don't want to be the single girl who gets murdered at a rest stop but...
I've jumped a few folks in Yellowstone and Glacier, at stores here in town, a fisherman (was in the middle of nowhere, no other traffic, but he was in full chest waders in 90* heat about 2 miles from the nearest river so I figured he wasn't lying about being stranded and took a chance in helping him). Also helped some folks who had a flat tire and no spare in Yellowstone. Took out my little compressor and pumped it back up, slow leak and it was holding air OK so I told them to get in front of me and head straight for West Yellowstone about 14 miles away (closest tire shop) and stop at the roadside pullouts often so we can keep checking the tire pressure. They weren't from around here and were a little suprised and very thankful that I took the time to help them and follow them.

You need to get one of those portable starters to carry around.

Pissing off my alarm company and having the cops pay me a visit....

I have one - usually don't leave it in the truck in the winter though. I'm always afraid the cold will hurt the battery in it. I just got it in case I ever needed it while out camping in the boonies.

Did you lock yourself out or something? Why'd the cops get involved?

    Oh, ok.

Panel locked up and was texting support, and was working on it, when they called twice and said they'd gotten a notification from my system... didn't answer the second time and so they called the cops. Wasn't in the mood to give my name and access word another time, when I was trying to get a TINY fitting out of the back of the monitor, without dropping the thing and yanking the wires out of the wall. :anonymous:

I have mixed feelings about this, it is good to help folks out

However I could see this going really wrong as well, granted the gentleman looked to be a senior citizen. Distract with a innocuous question. Yeah my vehicle is over this way,.. is it an isolated location, story kinda goes downhill from there

So decided to go through my old computer to get familure with it again to save some pictures and programs.
Going to be sending that to the scrapper.
So trying to find the exe files and app files hiding in folders ain't easy.
So I found one in a folder and another on a disk.
Tried to install and yeup to old for this computer.
Had to go through the disk and find the install exe for the program I wanted and not the bundle.
Then had to run the install in compatibility mode.
    Success

    Well kinda.

    Forgot about the Reg Keys.
    DAM
    Hunted for an hour.
Went through an old computer box and found my Reg keys for my programs.
Going to be a long process....
Talk about being out of practice.
Use to do this shit in my sleep
I use to build web sites with html from memory..
    That's ok. It will comeback.

I try to be cautious, not get involved if I'm at all concerned about my own safety. Lots of MT is still pretty safe - getting to be less so, unfortunately. There have been instances where I've told folks I can't help them just based on my gut feeling and the situation in general.
