Several folks asked about the puppy...

We got our puppy from an AKC Breeder of Merit in Long Island, NY who breeds for conformation, obedience and temperament. This is the reason our puppy is obedient, smart and is a beauty. Subway is 25" at the shoulder and weighs in at 68 pounds.

She has a mild european ancestry, but this breeder breeds for absolute outstanding "softer" temperament. European Dobes tend to be a little "sharp." Subway is the friendliest dog in the entire neighborhood. She loves everything and everyone, especially kids and the elderly. She just has that alert, "guard dog" look

Subway has her AKC "Canine Good Citizen" certificate and is certified as a Therapy Dog by Therapy Dog International (TDI.) In general, the certifications require that she pass rigorous obedience type tests on and off leash. Included in these tests are her ability to deal with specific "stress" type situations such as being around other strange dogs and other people while conducting certain obedience aspects of the test. The Therapy Dog test goes even further, requiring her to be stable near children, be able to deal with the fact that her handler is out of sight. She cannot take food that is on the ground. At one point of the test, they had people milling around her on wheelchairs, crutches and canes and they banged bedpans and other loud noises. With all of these distractions, she pretty much had to ignore everything. She passed with flying colors.

To this day, there is nothing that causes her to freak out. She even ignores the firecrackers on July 4 and New Years. When we run in the woods, she usually can catch up with hedgehogs and even deer. She's never tried to take a bite out of them yet

The only thing that causes her any kind of "alert guard dog" behavior is when strangers come a little too close to my two young daughters and wife without reasonably announcing themselves. Then she gives that look: "really? you want to come any closer before checking in with my dad or mom?" Once she notices that the girls have a welcoming demeanor, then she's all kisses and hugs with the new person.

 

Friendly, gentle, and beautiful ! If my ex had those qualities... hahaha

My truck was due in the week between Christmas and New Years. Sales rep just called and it's now coming in Tuesday. YAY!!

 

But was your ex obedient? LOL

 

Ha... I never gave her commands but if I had, I can guarantee she would have done the opposite.

Good morning! Yep same here. Worked till 0130 last night and had the alarm set for 6 this morning to follow up on the changes I made before the users got in. Lots of users are on that system this morning already so I'm guessing it worked LOL. 1 minute before 6 the two Tollers started whining that it was time to go outside. Definitely a day for a nap if there every was one. Take care of some things around the house and then watch the Army Navy game today. Or maybe sleep through it...

Want to share another view from my work place. This is the Gulf of Mexico this morning and I'm at one of my stops of the morning maintenance ritual. We take care of green space parks and beach locations. It's dead calm today with a low tide. When and if the first real cold front blows in I will post pictures from the same location so you can see how rough the gulf can bee. Make it a great day!

^ This. Actually, what am I saying, I'm retired How about a nice place to live with lots of pretty scenery (the human kind) for a 58 year old couple whose wife still looks darn good in a bikini. I wouldn't mind living where's it beach weather all year.

 

Thanks . I'm not going to get rich but it's steady and has great benefits and love the 4 tens. I enjoy it. I'm in my 15th year and wish I started sooner. Thanks!
