Doubtful, the majority are fare-weather campers and leave a mess behind. I am a strong supporter of those that leave no trace and are respectful. We are only an hour plus outside CO Springs with a large BLM and Nat Forest (Pike Nat Forest) before you crest Wilkinson Pass and head to the Collegiate Peaks area which takes more work and time. Like I shared the week of Mothers Day the area I am referring to was PACKED so will this weekend.

I want to head up to Yellowstone this summer if the situation allows - it has been a few years and I love camping in that area especially west of the park in ID.

We weren't packed yet yesterday when I left the field, but they were coming in. I'd imagine by tonight there won't be much space unoccupied. Mostly California license plates and many first timers to the area.

Is the area you work in open land use or a lot of designated camp sites? In my immediate area we have two State parks with camp sites but the majority simply drive into the BLM area and some will go deeper into the Pike Nat Forest on FS roads, amazes me how many need help getting out because they pulled a 20'+ trailer on an off road trail and got hung up. I stopped going into the area near me because of the overuse and abuse of the FS and off road trails, a lot of the quads, side-by-sides and dirt bikes ignore the signs to keep off certain areas - it is sad and really only has become an issue the last five years or so.

We have a mix. 1 reservoir, 1 lake that connects to the Colorado River, and a bunch of dispersed out side those areas. Not many want the dispersed areas this time of year, they want to be on the water.

The reservoir has 2 areas that you can access the water from (north and south). There is plenty of room on the west side that is only accessible by 4x4 without much of a trailer (think tear drop). The east side is a dam. Everything there is dispersed fee 14 day dispersed area. The lake is almost all side by side parking trailer park style on pavement. There are 13 spots in a dirt cul-de-sac I built a few years ago. It's also 14 day fee. But it has 4 seperate water fed restrooms and showers whereas the reservoir only has vault toilets. Both the lake and reservoir have boat ramps.

Issues we have this year is we had to shut all the volunteer hosts down so there's nobody out there babysitting. Our recreation staff, which I am part of, is off this weekend and all the facilities are closed. So it's going to be pretty much a free for all shit show.

First week of my furlough starts next week. Dogs sister comes to live with us starting Sunday afternoon going to be interesting, but hopefully not too much though.

Going to break out of work early today. Unit Head told us to, one of the reasons I don't mind the hours have been putting in. Have had lot worse jobs and bosses before. He is almost half my age but wise beyond his years:

I know a lot of our Memorial Day Weekends don't look quite the same as they usually do, but whatever you and your family & friends are doing, please find some relaxation and enjoyment! Stay safe and healthy, but have some fun too!

If you are on the clock today, please make sure you get a jump start on your weekend and sign off early... you've earned a few hours, so please get a breather!

Have a great weekend and THANK YOU for being awesome!

4 days off, hoping the new equipment for my cart shows up today or tomorrow. Finding relaxation here at the house puttering around. Hopefully you get some good downtime before all your visitors show up. I like having a little company but like my quiet time before and usually decompress a little afterward... and thank you!

    Good Afternoon

    Never had farm raise salmon.
    Never had Alaskan wild salmon.
Only had salmon that we caught in Lake Michigan. Get some that are 5-10 lbs and that's the best eating size. The 20 plus pounders may fun to catch on light tackle but the taste is not as good as the smaller ones.
Never have put ketchup on salmon.
