Good morning all Happy Hump day! Good one @MQQSE thanks for the smile to start the day!

I totally understand and bolded what hit closest to home for me. My father passed away of cancer close to 15 years ago now. Almost typed 10 then realized time has gone by faster than I thought. The hardest part is he is no longer there to ask questions when I struggle, it is up to me now and yeah that sucks. Wonder if our fathers and grandfathers struggled with the same thought? Mine sure had good advice and the right answers when I needed it.

I have 3 younger sisters too, and we are all very close even though we don't live close geographically. When my mother had a stroke a couple of years ago we spent a lot of time together with her and it brought us even closer. I don't envy your position, like it or not being the older brother you are expected to have the answers and they will come to you for support. Guess it is our fate in life. Do the best you can from what your parents have taught you, it is all you can do.

Yeah, my dad has been gone since 1996 but my stepdad has been really great. He has been everything a dad can be for us. I know it's the circle of life running over us just like it did for my parents and theirs and so on but that doesn't really make it any easier, just what every other generation had to do and what all future ones will too. We will make peace with her being at peace and forge on and eventually be able to move forward living our lives in honor of her. I appreciate the sentiments...........

Dad passed almost 3 years ago, he had a series of small strokes and was fading before our eyes. He fell one day and that night was gone. It was better than watching him forget how to be himself. I miss talking to him but I find that I remember everything he taught me, and a lot he probably didn't want me to repeat.

Well, I still don't know which is worse....watchin slow demises or the sudden fallout like happened to my dad. One way you get no shot at saying (I don't use goodbye) how they will be missed and how much you love them and the other way where you do but pay a price watching them wither away either painfully or medicated to the point of not really being there to understand what you are telling them. Have done both ways with both sets of grandparents and dad. Bottom line is that there is no good way to lose a beloved family member or friend for those who are left here to carry on with life.

Thanks for all the well wishes that have been posted since I replied last. None are takin for granted. I take nothing for granted at this point in my life. Everything is meaningful, revered, savored and appreciated............OK almost everything, I do take it for granted that there will be much stupid along the way to balance out all the good but that's about the only thing I take for granted.

Well, lucky for me, I have a nice, warm office job that pays enough I don't have to do stand up comedy on weekends.

Nope... I'm a bodily injury claim adjuster now. I haven't seen or even thought of a flight line since we fooled an AB into trying to order one in 2001.

Haha.... that's also a good one ! Oh, the practical jokes and hazing, how I miss them. The corporate world just doesn't find that kind of stuff amusing.

We had a little mishap at Sembach AB back in the early 80s. We duct taped a short-timer to a chair and having the FD come out and hose him down. Chair flipped backward, short-timer got a broken elbow. As you can imagine, I was assigned to a Field Maintenance Squadron at the time. Hahaha. No more duct taping to chairs at Sembach after than one.
