    I have spent the last couple of months designing and testing a new addition to our back yard. I am adding a koi pond but not a normal one. This one will be run 100% solar power.
    The cost to have one installed is crazy, $10K to $30K. I can DIY most of it and save. As far as I know there has never been a solar powered pond built. I guess I will be the first.

    I am planning on a 600-1000 gallon pond with a 36" high waterfall that will run off the solar panel by day and smaller pumps that will run 24/7 off battery power once the night comes.
    The smaller pumps will run through a biological life plant filter to keep the water clear.

    Here is a test of the waterfall at 36" running off solar power.

    There will be two leaf skimmers that will take the water in. I built them myself just for this. Each one has an input hole, a leaf catcher, a filter then one of each pump.
    I finished them today. I will test them tomorrow.

    They will be installed outside the pond but they are in a test pool to make sure they work as expected.

    The intakes will have the ponds liner sandwiched with a silicone seal to avoid any leaks.

    I switched my work from home day to today. They are repaving my street/housing tract. The street was ground up last week and pavement is going in today. It was either get locked in or locked out of the driveway.
