I think i'm disagreeing on this one.
what's a vacation if not working on a house project?
Just think of the satisfaction you will get when you finish the job on the night before you head home. very late at night that is.
The expensive tools you'll have to buy, that you will only use once in your life. yes they will be handed down for generations, and still never used but once back on that vacation in 2020.
The multiple trips the the hardware store. only to find out that special part is out of stock. Or not even made. And of course wile you out can you pick up X Y and Z at four other stores?
The arguments you will have with your spouse about the project and how you should have left it for the professionals.
The new language that will roll of your tongue with ease. on how to use those bad words as adjectives and adverbs. develop the skill set to use the same bad word as both an adverb and an adjective in the same sentence.
Oh yes indeedy! this could be the vacation you've dreamed of for years!

Yes, that is exactly how things have gone in the past.

    How did you know?

My son said I used the F word 26 times.

Everyone has a different set of abilities for hard work, handiness, DIY abilities and tools owned.

There is also the fix it or hire out time Vs. cost.

I would consider myself a major DIYer. If I can do it myself and I have or can buy the tool to do it that's it.

That said getting older some things I will hire out, gardening for sure. Hire a couple guys to mow, edge and clean the yard. Saves me the time.

Things like plumbing I do myself. I just fixed my kitchen sink tonight. Last week I had a crack in a sprinkler pipe. Similar to @CVYota pipe was thru concrete and 18" underground.

I have the tools and fixed it myself. Even drilled another 1" hole thru the concrete to add another pipe for a future pond. No leaks.

I have a garage full of tools and while there are some that don't get used often they are there when I need them.

My wife loves that I can fix almost anything and never complains when I buy a new expensive toy (tool).

That said this is for the 50+ thread.

Well according to Cal Fire's incidents website there's 28 active fires burning in Ca . That's were the smoke is coming from

Good morning all. Boat made its way home tailgating behind my truck yesterday. It’ll fit on the garage but the 63 Falcon is in there on my side. I wonder what the chances are of moving the Falcon to the wife’s side and getting the boat in on mine. Her (10 year old) car would have to be outside. It’s looking like Sanford & Son around here.

    Morning all

I agree and will do most on my own.

This, however, requires a certain set of skills and labor i don't want to do.
I know the water main line should not be in the foundation wall, I know we should have copper from the meter to the house and I know the trench would be deep.

And I am 950 miles from home and only have a week.

    Pass

The track wanted all the winners from yesterday in the show.

We got a ton of compliments on how the car ran and Bob’s driving and how it was set up. Had more than one driver ask me to help them get their car set up. This is such hi praise from your peers.

COVID pictures suck but at this moment I couldn’t be more proud of the effort we put together.
