    Welcome.

That is a good question. I didn't change a thing until about 55, thats when it all went downhill, I stopped hiking and biking.

stay active. Hike, bike, eat less, drink more.
stay away from political discussions with friends and enjoy the hell out of your kid, his youth will keep you going.

I am hitting 60 next year, my mom is 95 and my kid is 22.

    He wont leave.

Thanks! We're getting into actual advice. The last 5 years haven't been chock full of good opportunities to take care of self. Diapers, crying, making food, cleaning up messes both big and small, getting jumped on, kicked, bitten, smacked around, told to go throw myself in the trash can.

I remember reading someone write about working the night shift, how he has made it sustainable by prioritizing his needs, how strange that sounded. Some days I just long for a chance to go pee without being interrupted or finish my coffee before it's cold.

The truck has been quite soothing, a way to restore sanity during insane times, doing small to medium sized customizations to an otherwise mostly idle vehicle. I almost worry about running out of things to do but I suspect with this forum that's a very long ways away and I could always just go buy a new truck and start over...

    Nope, keep what you have.

There is a great group down your way that off road. Put the kid in the truck and find roads in Anza.

And find the old railroad near the border.

On our way to pick up dinner last night (Jersey Mike's Subs) the wife and I witnessed a fatal car accident. A Ford Fusion turned get in front of a Dodge Challenger that was going about 60mph. Fusion driver died on impact (believe his neck was broken) EMT in a car following us loaded other driver and we t to hospital just a few blocks away. No word on her condition.

It can all come to an end in the blink of an eye. Live life to the fullest while you can.

Been up all night re-living the sights we saw....

Hey Bill, know that feeling all to well, when I started driving I seemed to be in sight or roll up on every accident in my path.. I was already in Civil Air Patrol and was doing search and rescue operations and EMT training at the time, my first response was to get involved at every accident till first responders got there.. Several of those scenes are never forgotten sights, scenes, smells...

Sorry you had to experience this Bill. Years ago I was following an older gentleman driving a full size Chevy truck on a Sunday afternoon. He ran a two way stop sign on a country road. Girl in a mid sized car drilled him around 50 mph @ his drivers door, flipping him on his roof. I can still see the sight of him hanging upside down belted in with his arms hanging down. He passed later @ Hershey Med center. Shook me pretty good. Take care.

    What a horrible experience.

    I couldn’t even imagine. :(

Again, I couldn’t imagine seeing and hearing something like this.

We can't change what we see, we just deal with the experiences and learn to live with it. You think of all the people that are affected by the event and it becomes heartbreaking. Some people see that everyday and become numb to it. I can't imagine.

But you have important things to deal with Bill, so stay focused. 3 more months?
