    When I was a kid, my neighbors did that in their motor home on their way up from FLA to CT. They ended up putting a propane burner under it to cook the poo when they overnighted in VA.

    You'd think a black water tank would be a pretty easy thing to maintain but evidently not. We have people show up every year that stored their rig without draining it. Many store them in the area and, with these temps, it doesn't take all that long to dry (dehydrate) the contents. Then they end up with a big "chunk 'o poo". Then they end up trying every bad idea they can conjure in an attempt to break it up. We find rocks, silverware, marbles, fasteners (nuts and bolts) and anything else they can think on in our rv dump screen box. They drop that stuff in the tanks along with any kind of cleaner/soap with a bunch of water and drive around trying to make a puree so it'll drain. Watching people at the rv dump is just as comical as watching a couple trying to ground guide/back a trailer. One of my personal favorites is watching them get sewage on the concrete dump apron, walk in it then climb in their rig to drive away in frustration.

    Not sure how many here would appreciate something like this, but Honda is releasing a CT 125 on the US market for '21. I've always liked the 90's but are just too hard to find one decent for less than twice what they cost when they were new.

    They took away the hi-lo transmission but it should still make for a great little camp/trail/hunting bike. Kinda pricey though.

    nope. i just make sure i keep a lot of water in there - i add a couple gallons by bucket as soon as i set up camp every weekend. and always use a chemical - i go between a generic tst treatment and "happy camper". and when i'm at the dump station i do the black, then the grey, then because the grey takes so long i put a couple buckets of clean water in the black and flush it again after the grey.

    I really don't like the chemicals. We use a product similar to Rid-X in our systems and the different chemicals kill the "bugs" so we use more of it. But, having had my own camp trailers in the past, I fully understand the whole odor factor though. We just have to add more "bugs". But more water is your friend for helping. A few drops of Dawn dish soap helps the grease from coagulating too. You're almost always going to have grease in there no matter how careful you are.

    i believe happy camper is septic safe

    i heard about the dawn trick too. and something about a calgon water softener but i haven't been able to find that stuff in the stores here.

    right now the camper is 100% winterized as far as the tanks and water system are concerned. i do still plan on camping, i'll just have to bring along jugs of water and wont be able to take a shower. no biggie.

    current plan is that after the last trip of the year i'll do the regular rv dump routine then come home and fill the tanks about 2/3 with hot water from the house and a healthy dose of dawn, drive around to get everything worked up and straight back to the rv dump to do a final flush for the year.
