    CHEVERLY my service dog! Lol
Finished my semester with straight A’s. Next semester is my last and I will be the first in my family to graduate college. One more semester to go. Yeah I know I’m 50 and finishing college. It’s a loooong story but a great journey to be on. The service dog has a way of changing things up.. lol.
And on that note... I took a dump today.

    Good Morning Folks :hattip:

Menards should be here shortly with a delivery. Then I told my neighbor the contactor I'd help install widows today and maybe tomorrow.
Off to to work this afternoon. At least it's another 4 day week for me.

    Have a safe one.

I went back to school in 2009 for year and again in 2011 for 3 years. Second time was for work.
My wife took 12 years to get her degree.
    1-2 classes at a time.
A big :hattip: to you and anyone that goes back to school later in life.

Does installing a widow include bumping off the husband??

Great job! I was almost 40 before I finished mine. Took me almost 20 years did it while active duty in the Navy. Took whatever classes I could when I could but was totally worth it. With that said I have gone as far as I can without a Masters degree. Not long ago Unit Head asked if I was going to get one. Told him screw that I am 62 now and thinking about retirement, not climbing any ladder or going back to school. He said please don't retire LOL.

Got an email today that we are getting our pay reduction back in a lump sum check. All benefits restored from the 6 months we didn't including matching retirement fund and a bonus of $1,000 for our troubles. Guess I will stay around a little while longer.

Less than 2 weeks leave for the North Shore of Lake Superior with the dogs to chase ruff grouse for the month. I can use the break, already started packing.

Totally enjoyed my day at Outlanders with @Casper66 ,@Cypherian,@PyritePirateBill ,Dennis and the ladies.great friends, great food, great weather.it was just a perfect day.hard to pic the highlights but Cyper brought the home security system,Caspers wife’s face turns real red when she gets spicy vinegar bbq sauce and Caspers dog will wear you out fetching a ball.only rough part was Joy driving the Taco home as i partook a few yellow labels. Damn they should atleast put a fake break pedal on the passenger side. lol
All she said was I like driving this thing:eek:

If I could add space to the garage in any way I’d be all over that. 3 bays or extra height or tandem space in front of one or both existing bays would totally rule.

We looked at a newly constructed home a year ago with an extra long tandem garage on one side, closer to 2.5x length than 2.0 and would have fit a long bed Tacoma with room to spare or a generous workshop. It was pretty appealing on that aspect and a solid back yard. But it was a mile further inland and 3x what I paid a decade ago. It was not a dream home for either of us. There are micro climate differences in wind and sun and marine layer which affect weather even going a few blocks. Also new construction grade is pretty depressing, even “luxury” builders have pretty lousy quality compared to the decade of custom work I’ve done on the bones of a mostly trashed foreclosure. The house isn’t elegant or fancy but all of the defects have been fully addressed now and it’s not an ideal time to start over with small kids.

Our garage doors are directly below the 2 smaller bedrooms all of which is on a busy street. We're legal non-conforming on setbacks since the city incorporated our street a year or two after the homes were built. We've talked extensively about a she-shed / detached home office in the back corner of the lot but that would be a teardown if we were to sell so it's not an overly compelling deployment of capital.

The ideal legal house mod would be a 300sq ft rec room above the living room which is sloped 1.5 story roof right now. It would turn the exterior into a very boring box and change the living room visuals but wouldn’t obstruct any ocean views or breezes for the neighbors since it’d just fill in a corner on top of the existing footprint. Still have to petition the city for the privilege which means $$ and headache and a pretty disruptive construction process.

One neighbor is building an office room inside his garage this week. Drywall on the outside of the room went up yesterday. That seems like a silly waste of money to me but would offer some professional privacy which I guess he wants. And easy to undo later on. One other neighbor just has his desk in the garage looking out at the street. I don’t know of anyone on our street who actually parks in their garage, the space is just too valuable. Renters typically use it as a child play room or for fitness / workout equipment. One neighbor has a full wood shop in his.

It is tough to gauge how long this work from home thing will last. Once I’m back in an office and the boys are going to school during the week, maybe we will reshuffle again. Wife is even considering making the master her home office.

I think the only lot space we have which would be within the setbacks is the ~200 sq feet of grass inside the gate where we have our front yard. Which is probably the most used space during the day.

These are the challenges of living near the beach in southern California. Million dollar price tags, rules and regulations, traffic, overcrowding, and taxes. On a positive note, 9/10 days start at 65 and overcast, peak around 70 and sunny, then 1/2 end with an incredible sunset.

We're also fairly seriously considering a move, probably post elementary school, to somewhere with more space and lower property costs. My wife went to high school up in Sequim, WA and has family property there but it's very distant from the airport and schools are not the greatest, plus cost of building on land won't be terribly cheap there either.

Maine sounds like a nice option with none of these problems :)
