    there could be another one.
one documentary that i haven't seen but want to...can't remember the name right now... a group of friends got together a few years ago and rode horseback from the Canadian border to the Mexico border. took quite a bit of planning due to private landowners not cooperating and things like interstate highways blocking their route. But they found a way. Wasn't all that uncommon 50 years ago for cattle ranchers to bring herds from TX to MT and beyond, they wanted to relive the ideal of the cowboy life from then.

Didnt have time to answer this earlier...

Several thoughts on this (mostly just mine):
Was she at the same spot the entire time, from the time the search started to when/where found? They were using tracking dogs and walked within feet of where she was found... I know the area she was found. I highly doubt she was there the whole time.
Why take off from home at the hour she did?
Was the whole thing a ruse? A couple GoFundMe's popped up right away and took off.

I also suspected she may have just walked away (from her family). A guy in Yosemite did that. Had his wife drop him off at a trailhead for a backpacking trip, said good bye, and pick me up in a few days at X place. He never showed up. Apparently he had 'someone' pick him up within minutes of getting dropped off and he started a new life across the country... It was only found out years later.

    And most recently this guy:

I just read about this guy last night and I’d love to know more about what made him go completely off the grid. We will never know but it would be an interesting story from his perspective.

When I was hunting last month around the BWCA 3 people had to be rescued. They all had a Garmin InReach and were iced in and were deep into hyperthermia. NOAA really missed that one big time and once the snow and cold came in mid month never did get it right for a single day. Didn't get above freezing for almost 2 weeks and snowed damn near every day. Despite what NOAA said LOL.

Coldest it had been in 115 years. And snow. The grouse came off the ground and moved from eating high bush cranberries and clover to eating catkins on the aspens.

Dog can't smell them that high up in the trees and only shot 3 birds in those last 2 weeks. Could of added that one I took a picture of but something just wrong about shooting a limb chicken at camp without the dog flushing it.

This year I carried a sat phone in addition to a Gamin InReach. Mainly because if I got stuck or broke down didn't want to send a SOS to S&R, they have better things to do. Really no excuse in todays world to not carry at least a SOS device of some type though. Then again this is 2020 and people are going out for the first time in places that they assume are no different than a stroll in the Park. City folks...

So the gov. has rolled us back. We have had a spike and now basically if you are not in your car or your private property you need to wear a mask. It is what it is...
