Yep, I have been taking a more practical outlook about it all I guess. My wife is all torn up not knowing what will happen and if we will see the kids for Christmas or not. My approach is just try and stay positive, Christmas can happen at a different time if need be, and lets concentrate on being safe so we can all be together for many more years. I really want to spend time with my children but I'd rather they be safe.

Yep Mike most of us can stand a rearrangement of our priorities. The tree can stay up for as long as it takes my main concern is the welfare of us and our children, well everybody alses as well but you know what I mean

 

Well stated. Our Christmas is tentatively scheduled for March. That is when the Air Force is anticipating going back to in person training. My son won’t be able to come home from Hawaii until then. All the other kids agreed to hold off celebrating until then. We will have a virtual stocking hanging and Christmas Story reading on Christmas Eve though. We sent stockings and stuffers to each of the kids to pull it off. Health and safety became our number 1 priority especially with numbers spiking in our area.

 

We are exploding up here.

For us it’s five people Christmas Day..
Usually like 25.
We do our best.
Hibernation is not an option.
Friend or not. No one deserves this.

 

Afternoon mam

 

Our family is resilient. We will survive. It’s our jobs that create the challenge. Barbara(wife) is in the medical field. They are closing offices and sending everyone to work the tents. She was offered early retirement (not much) but we will probably take it...staying on only increases her risk. As for me... I’m still 8 years out so I will have to make due. Thursday Governor adjusted the matrix so that we could get kids back in school. Numbers are still too high. But we have been told to prepare. So that’s our new reality. Planning for the safe return of 560 K-5 students. That said hibernation isn’t an option here either. We will split kids into half day (am/pm) cohorts. Temp checks and wellness screening coming in. Smaller class sizes and a virtual academy for those who won’t be sending their kids back.

Yeah, decent day actually, gloomy. Winter has been avoiding us fortunately.
