Sorry to here all that. Stacking the lobby is why I left to sell parts. Nothing was ever gained be accepting every car that pulled into the parking lot. Instead, much was lost by not giving the Tech the diag time he needed, or the R&R time required to complete the job properly.

Good morning. Short trip to St. Louis yesterday was okay. Got a good sandwich and some outstanding slaw at a little place down on the Mississippi. Real feel this morning is 21* so I'm staying in and doing nothing.

    Morning all

Why do I get the feeling they will blame you if it all doesn't get done.

I'm convinced it's the ASMs job to lie to customers and then blame others when it's not done.

    Good Morning Folks

Temp was 0° when I got up, wind chill was only -5. Kinda nice when there's no will.

Made biscuits and gravy for breakfast

Here is one of our dogs, Rosebud. She sits there in the morning and just before dark watching for the deer.

This was my last dog, last being the last dog I will ever own. She was a great way to end. One of the top three dogs I've had. I don't much like female dogs but she was the exception to the rule.

Good morning, it is an extra coffee kind of day. -2° with -21° Windchill temp, last night the weather gal said it will be 10 days before the high gets into double digits above zero. Actual air temps.

Glad you don't have the wind Dan and hope it stays that way for you. Those biscuits and gravy look outstanding! I need to go to the store either today or tomorrow have to add some things for sausage gravy now you are a good influence on me.

The Toller in my avatar before he passed away at a cabin on the North Shore. More moose than deer and not many people, deer was curious more than anything.

This was in the front yard. Couple of does bedded across the ravine and he knew they were there. But his whole life boiled down to just throw me the damn ball! Or something, anything.

Hereditary blindness is common in many dogs. Before breeding any decent breeder will run CERF eye exams on the parents. And because genes can and usually are recessive a history going back 6 or more generations should also be available. Through the whole generation tree.

Depends on the breed but in the Toller and Retriever world also OFA clearances for hips. DNA testing and Brucellosis tests along with cardio (heart) tests.

The breeder of my last 2 Tollers works in the animal science lab for University of North Dakota. When she starts to go down that rabbit hole my eyes glaze over and I end up saying Laurie please send me an email with the tests names and where you recommend I get it done. Just searched my emails and historical CERF eye exams are maintained in an OFA database.

    Great looking dog!

By the 60's the Irish Setter was pretty gone as a hunting dog and most blame the AKC shows (bench\conformation) for it. A lot of truth to that and when the Toller was being considered for recognition by the AKC a couple of decades ago many of us fought it. But they ended up being recognized anyhow. Looks like the AKC figured out their mistakes and are letting the national specialty clubs set standards now. I never want to see a separate line of a dog breed for show and another for field. There are some Irish Setter breeders that have brought in fresh blood from Ireland to start over again and they are now called "Red Dogs" to distinguish them. So far they are turning out great hunting dogs.

Friend of mine from Silver Bay runs French Britts they don't have any children and the dogs are their kids. Few years ago he went to Montana (2,000+ mile round trip with only one State between Montana and Mn.) to pick up a "mistake" breeding dog, cross between English Setter and Brittney. He calls him a Setteney. Looks more like an English Setter.

Steve walking his 4 kids at a sporting clays shoot in Wi. in the morning. No leashes just a heeling stick. The Setteney on the right.

Been a great dog for him. Tail broke 3 times because of hitting trees running in the woods and eventually had to have it bobbed like a Britt. But other than that has worked out well and everyone is happy.

Always wanted a dog, but I don't like having a dog in the city or in a small backyard. Not fair to the dog. Also I don't have the time to train them properly. Again, not fair to the dog.
Grew up around German Shepards, family friends always had 2. Small yard and not enough training made for a neurotic dog.

The Dog i had that I miss the most was a Rottweiler / Chow mix . Her name was Elizabeth or Lizzy and she was an awesome dog , very loyal . Sadly I had to put her down when she was 13 yrs old . She had very bad hip dysplasia and she was in constant pain and could barely walk

We are dog lovers here. Our. Previous German Shepard/ boxer mix was a great dog. Perfect temperament. Loved to go on hikes. He was with us for 15 years.

He got along great with our now 13 year old cocker and protected her.

She is older now but still getting along well. Now we have a golden. He is the sweetest dog ever but can be a pita.

    Good afternoon. :hattip:

I think we are heading out to Raising Canes for some chicken strips, Texas toast, fries, and a soda. Nice healthy meal! ;)

Afterwards I’ll have to play the drums for a few hours to wear it off! Yep, have too! :D

Hope everyone has an awesome day!
