Sure does. Sciatic on right leg has been non stop since mid-June. At night it gets worse. Like an acetylene torch on the lower leg.
2 injections, PT, did nothing so I think getting cut is in the cards.
I see surgeon guy this Thursday.
1 inch cut, push nerve wire harness out of the way, cut V notch in disc to relieve pressure, Push wire harness back, button it up.
Sounds easy, but this back surgery shit always skeered me.
Not many choices left. Either this , or hobble around in pain for the next 30 years or so.

Nothing ATM. During the Summer, they were giving me steroids and painkillers, which I didn't take as my job requires me operating with a CDL.
Once I get up and walk (or limp) it off for an hour, I'm functional during the day.Funny part is, Even though the L5 is blown, I have no back pain at all, it's all sciatic nerve crap in the right leg. Go figure.

best of luck! i'm not allowed injections anymore. surgery next step but according to 2 surgeons not until im ready to never work again. pain management is self medication (which i don't take until it gets really bad) nerve encroachment in 6 places with 2 discs, 1 disc gone, 4 more deteriorating.. 2 completely ruptured. i asked what i can do about the pain they both said other than the pills, which only take the edge off, not much just deal with it. i've been this way for several years and it doesn't appear i many options. i guess that's why when people tell me to take it easy on my shoulder i have a hard time since the back never gets a break. i'm now about 1 1/2" shorter than i used to be

Still great to see old "Flat Top" thanks for the pics! There is a Federal Benchmark in the ground on top of one of the mountains in the Olympics you can see all the way down to the mountains in Oregon and up to the Canadian mountains. On the few days clouds aren't in the way. And on a great day the ceiling is below and just the peaks stick above the clouds. Someday I really, really want to make back there. When I finally went digital a few years ago stayed with Pentax and have 2 K3 bodies. Hard to beat some of the Pentax glass but fewer options than the Canon and Nikon masses have access to. But I can use them in the worst weather and well below freezing without worry.

Getting so I hate the word degenerative, first my left ankle and now my lower spine and left sciatic nerve which started 2 months ago. Steroid shot in my left foot helps some at least I can walk to hunt with $450 Italian boots with ankle support system but shot only last a month or so and can only get 3 a year. And now this sciatic nerve crap. Hard to believe I walked 7-8 miles a day through the tall grass in SD hunting but watching the dog hunt and grow helped a lot mentally. But the drive back was a killer sitting seems to be the worst I was thinking on the way back if I had to drive for a living I'd quit. Just started on the medical side and up to 2700 mg. of gabapentin for nerve block but not a lot of help. Same here, getting up in the morning on fire and can hardly walk but after pacing for an hour is somewhat better. PT right before I left but hasn't helped have another apt. this week. I hope we both get some relief and soon!!

Went to get some steaks last night to grill and they were all too thin, except for some Viking Rib Eyes. Think they are called that because you can grab them by the bone and use them as a club to beat off anyone that tries to take one. Normally look for 2" thick but these were 3" thick. About $35 each but cheaper than a decent meal at most restaurants around here.

Cut the bones off to fit on the grill and made the dogs happy. But still had a hard time fitting them both on the flame to do the sear and had to do the right one twice once I did the slide to the left one. But they turned out fantastic! Will be asking for more of these in the future.

Desert Port, smoked almonds\cashews with premium aged blue cheese, smoked cheddar and aged parmesan for appetizer and desert. Still not hungry but have a weeks worth of left overs when I am.

    Yup. Sucks the big one.
This is after getting blown up shoulders and torn muscles fixed, you figure you're out of the woods for a while.
I gave up my Lineman job a month ago due to this and took another job in my company in logistics.
33 years of that hard labor tends to accelerate the wear and tear factor.
Now, I make a tad less money, but now I'm indoors and no more hard labor. I can dig that for another 3 years or so. It's all good.

Now hunting is another story, lol. Last weeks big buck, if I was by myself, I would have never got him out by myself.
My vacation starts this Wednesday, with the shotgun opener for deer in my local watershed.
The times I'll be by myself, I'm not planning on taking any shots.
    Besides, Freezer's full anyways.
Hunted hard for 40 years. I'll be hunting "soft" this year, lol.

Yeah if I would have known I would live this long would have taken better care of myself LOL. The degenerative arthritis according to what the doctor told me is from damage to my body when I was younger. 20 years in the engineroom of ships swinging a sledge hammer and hard labor helped keep me in shape but also did a lot of damage. Which a few years ago thought was all fixed, grhhh....

Good luck on Wednesday! I totally get the hunting soft but at least you are in the woods which is the important part. A few years ago got tired of dragging a deer out of the woods and then cutting them up which shocked me, used to live for deer season. Toward the end of my deer hunting when I was mentoring my son I had a decent buck come within 10 yards of me and I slowly raised the gun and then yelled bang! He literally shit himself and fell down as he was swapping ends to get out of the there. Now I look at deer season as an interruption to bird hunting because I won't run the dog in the woods when deer season is open. Carrying a few birds out of the woods is much easier than a deer LOL. I really hope they come up with some relief for you after all this time and find it soon. They discussed options with me and the blown disc in my spine plus degenerative arthritis and mentioned surgery as an option down the road. I'm not going to go there if I can help it. That is a start of another set of problems from what I have seen.

Mike - When I change the axle seals, I'd like to relocate the breather valve, since corrosion and blockage is likely causing the implosion/corruption of the axle seals. You said the vent is press fit. Is there any way I could somehow extend the breather up by hose relocation, similar to the Tacoma Relocation Mod? Is there a way to get a hose onto the the diff via a press fitting? Or other way? Maybe yank off the cap on the old breather and there's a hidden gem of nipple "like" thing that I can jam intoa hose?
    Thanks
    Lloyd

    Same as everybody else...
I'm going through the same Bucktales. I messed up my back in July on a bike ride, the doc says that a disc in my back slipped and is pinching the sciatic nerve. All's I know is that the pain runs from my butt to my ankle and man does it hurt. I've been going to PT and it is slowly improving, I can walk about a mile or so before the pain stops me and forget about standing still. Before this I was bike riding 50 plus miles a week and could easily run a 10k so I'm nowhere near where I want to be. I hope that your situation improves and you get pain relief.
