Not quite to the moon and back, but....

Just returned from a cross country trek to chase elk. Eastern Georgia to southern Colorado, 4,000 miles or so. Went with a pile of hunting equipment, returned with that plus 300lbs of elk meat.

    Taco just smiled... at 575,000 miles. 575k Taco2.jpg 575k Taco.jpg

Alright, finally can post in here. 2001 5-speed. Original engine, tranny was replaced at 470,000 due to bad syncros. Rest of the drivetrain is original.
In honor of 500k, shes getting retired from DD duty, and a new paint job. Love this truck, no plans to ever sell it!

How do you like the new seats? Do you feel like there is more room?

I have a regular cab too and itching for a little more room / new seats would be great.

If your going to spend a lot of time in your truck the best mod you can do is upgrade the seats. 4runner seats are the least expensive 100-300 from Craigslist,
1000 or so from Corbeau seats like the ones I have and they hold you in place
especially going around a corner and have that new car smell.
Toyota definitely slacked on the Tacoma seats

    Yeah John,

You got that right about the seats. The Tacoma seats are like sitting on plywood.

    Take it easy,

They are still better than Subaru Forester and Isuzu Trooper I test drove in 1999 looking for smal SUV back then. Their sits were flat and hard as a brick bench.
I could not find 4Runner at decent shape (there was one but the PO was smoking in it) so I ended up with Isuzu Rodeo 4x4. Very nice and reliable (zero ussues till it died at 130k miles) but did not survive the rear end colision at 70mph (got run over by Dodge Van with faulty brakes).

i do not see a ton of these trucks (specifically the '95.5-'97s which are very distinguishable) in my location any more, maybe 5 or so in the past 3 months from checking out traffic when I am out and about
... have only seen one in a local salvage yard (major front end collision) in the past few months
i wonder where they all went to, perhaps in the parts of town that I do not often frequent

i am tentatively headed to the Colorado area the 1st of August, I am needing to deliver a salvaged 95.5 rear slider to a TW member near Boulder, then heading to Gunnison with some IA/MO 3rd/2nd gens. for the yearly event they have
(It all depends on the district jury summons I recently got and have to report on July 29th)

am i gonna get to check that milestone out in person?
