prepare your angus for tons of conflicting "info" (really just opinions) and some good info sprinkled in here and there.

What kind of overland capability do you need and what is the starting point? Tires are probably going to be the first and most useful thing from an overlanding point of view if starting with stock.

Nothing is in stock and shipping is slowed down.

    Good luck.

Buy a tent, a cooking kit, a sleeping bag, a $3000 mountain bike, and $1000 worth of beer. Done.

Navigation app (gaia), recovery gear, battery jump starter, first aid, and tires (maybe).

Also, like Key-Rei said, you're way too late. Everything is out of stock and wait times are months long. The things I recommended are probably the only things you can get in time for your trip. Bright side, they're the only things you actually need.

I bought a $99 tent a sams club, have 4 sleeping bags, bought Coleman cots on Amazon and have Coleman stove and griddle.
How is all that gonna fit in my truck with my $1,000 in beer?
I figured I should pack the beer 1st.

$2k is about the floor for a capable bike that will not be the bottleneck for fun with a fit rider. $4k is the line of diminishing returns as far as cost/fun ratio goes, IMO.

$59 at Big5 and you're good to go!! I'm also being a bit sarcastic, the 5010 carbon hanging in my garage was a little more then $59.

My uncle is a claims adjuster. There was a car that plowed through a 7-11, they let him take all the untouched beer. 2 truck loads and a gutted mini van later we were set.

Buy or rent a used Travel Trailer, set that up as your 'base' of operations and use your truck for exploring and save having to fold-up a RTT everyday when you want to go exploring, or to town. Plus like others have said most places are sold-out of them.

I am still a ground camper. RTT might be cool but I usually in same spot a day or two. I use my truck to go out and about and exploring. Be a pain to have to break camp just to go for a drive. Pls without a ground tent you would have to repack all the beer every time you left camp. For some reason ten cases of beer sitting in a pile in the woods seems to disappear. I think the squirrels take it

Get a ground tent or sleep in the back of your truck with a topper. Then you can go out and explore. RTT’s are cool. But not everyone has to be like the cool people :anonymous:
