5000 mile interval for oil change??

    people don't look to change it once the light is lit, they make an appointment the following week or two or more

    I do dino every 5k, never had engine torn down in 30 years

    new cars with synthetic are going 10k OCI

    I do my oil, filters and grease shafts every 5,000mi. It doesn’t take long at all and I put Mobil 1 full synthetic in it every time. Keep in mind the 2nd gen truck was probably designed in the late 1990s when 3,000mi intervals were more common. My 2015, by comparison is still an old truck considering the technology available for that year. The truck is definitely a reliable vehicle, so I do my duty to keep it maintained.

    I go on the 5000 mile interval specified in the manual. i.e. @ 45,000, then @ 50,000, then @ 55,000, etc. Rather then go 5,000 + the last change mileage. Makes it easy to remember, and you don't get out of whack if you go a little long on one.

    New filter every 5k and new Mobile 1 full Synthetic Oil every 10k and I have 152k miles on the clock. The oil protects the engine and the filter protects the oil from impurities. If you plan to go extended intervals on your oil you should make sure you change the filter halfway between your oil intervals. If you're running synthetic you're fine on 10k miles.

    My '14 2.4L Tacoma gets Mobil 1 and Toyota filter every 10K miles. I have (4) other cars that all get the same...Mobil 1 and OEM filter every 10K. Makes it easy to remember. With that interval, it's not the engine that's gonna kill the car/truck, it's all the other stuff...fuel pump, water pump, cats, O2 sensors, COMPUTERs...etc.

    Walmart has everything you need for an oil change and can probably get out of there under $50. Oil change takes maybe 20min, tons of videos on youtube to help. So if you're going to the dealer to wait at least an hour and they charge you something over $50... I'd say just learn to do it yourself, it's really easy. Just don't drain your transmission fluid, they both take size 14mm socket. :anonymous:

    Why? If he is using his truck as a daily driver only putting highway miles and using Mobil 1 EP he is likely doing just fine.

    Same here. New Toyota filter every 5K, new Mobile 1 full synthetic every 10K. I also do mine on the even 5s (50,000 - 55,000 - 60,000 etc). I do full change on the even numbers, and filter on the odd numbers. Very easy to remember. 171,000 on the clock now.
