Got a postcard in the mail from the dealer I bought my Tacoma from, has two coupons, one for a 5000 mile interval maintenance service and one for a prepaid 1 year plan, the 5000 mile coupon is for a oil change (synthetic might be higher), check all fluid levels, rotate tires, and check drives side floor mat, for 65.95, now I'm thinking WTH I thought, and was told that the first two years this crap is free, anyone else?

Should be free every 5K miles through 25K. Tire rotation every 5K and check the fluids, etc. Oil change at 10K and 20K. Once you are at 30K then they begin charging unless you paid through the nose for an extended plan.

All visits were free on my 2012 4Runner up to 35,000 miles. This meant 3 oil changes at 10,000 miles each and 7 tire rotations/fluid checks at 5,000 each. Needed to pay $80 for 40,000 mile synthetic oil change. Can't really complain since dealer notified us they were replacing battery at 35,000 miles under warranty and they could easily have ignored it. They're also not the selling dealership of the vehicle.

My Tacoma plan should be similar but I think 2016 plan only covers 25,000 miles.

I told them do the 10k maint at 5k. I will do the same at 10k. I believe 10k between oil changes is stretching it a bit too far.

You get two free oil changes, so I'm doing mine at 5 and 10k, after that I'll change my own oil.

i know you get 2 but knowing how these dealers operate it would not surprise me if they insist on sticking to what the book schedule says....hope it works out!

I got 5 free oil changes with Toyota Care. I just took my my 2015 Tacoma in for the first oil change today. The recommendations are every 5,000 miles or 6 months. I bought my truck in August 2015 and the truck had 4,931 miles today. So my driving habits fit the program very close.

Oil Change, Tire Rotation, Vehicle Inspection & Fluid Check... All for free

surprisingly enough my dealer hasn't been too bad, a little pricey, but not bad.

Some cars go 15k between oil changes, but I guess you know better than the engineers who design these things for a living though. I mean, between all of the engineers working on a single vehicle development there are probably hundreds of thousands of hours in it. It's not like they just willy nilly go, "hey guys, how about we try 10k this time? See how that works?"

If you want to change it every 5k you're not going to hurt anything though ... well, except your bank account ;)

actually it never says oil changes every 5k/6m. it says service every 5k/6m and oil change at 10k/12m.

the service at 5k/6m is rotate tires.

Free but they don't do anything significant in the 5k service and changing your oil at 5k is a waste of time, money and resources. Science proves it.

at 5k depending on where you take it and conditions, 5k is not "a waste"

5K service is known in the industry as the "sunshine treatment". they will open the hood let the sun shine on it for a hour or two while you wait, that's it......

So you are saying none of the dealers ever change the oil and rotate tires? Thats utter bullshit.

NO! just saying when a vehicle is brought in for scheduled service of which 90% is just inspections that is what the mechanics refer to it as.
